If only there was a service I could call to open the car! Some kind of magical truck full of car related service tools to assist motorists in need.
Oh well. Guess it’s time to break the window.

throwing the trashcan away, though.

Lol I live right outside Haines City in Poinciana, only fitting that it happened by a guy who's from around these parts.

Well yeah, you always try to salvage anything of value first. Looks like he already did that.

Some sort of Auto Association? For Americans?
It would never work.

way cheaper to replace

Is it really cheaper? I thought that when it comes to breaking windows, “smaller = cheaper” was a big misconception, and that you were better off breaking one of the more commonly- serviced open able windows.

I recall hearing that same thing. I thought the driver's side main window would generally be the cheapest.

How does one lock their keys in a modern car? My 1984 Saab won’t let me lock the keys in the car.

Thats what I mean, that it would be cheaper to replace the bigger serviceable window. I realize now that is in no way clear.

Well to be fair, I just checked local salvage yard prices and quarter windows for my car are actually pretty affordable. Some yards are even pricing them comparably to door glass. ¯\_()_/¯ Then again, maybe a Mustang is too popular of a car to be a good example of how price y quarter windows can be ...

I’m thinking the difference is probably how non-rollable windows are attached to the car. Just priced out a Safelite replacement for the regular rear door window, the little “vent” window this guy broke, as well as the actual rear quarter window for my X3. Both the rear quarter and vent ones are $550 while the regular one that rolls down is $450. Unfortunately, the little quarter one is also SF thieves’ window of choice to break, probably because it makes a smaller mess. Having the entire big rear window smashed (even on sedans!) is pretty common, too, though. Fuck people who smash windows!!!!

You say this but that requires waiting. Whereas breaking the window is immediate. I have done this with a previous apartment, broke the door instead of calling a locksmith to get me in. Fixed it afterwards which took many hours of labor though lol.
