It’s funny how these “techs” bitch about Ford lug nuts when it’s “techs” like them hammering on the things with worn out impact sockets which are ruining them.

The kid (I hope it’s a kid) with the Toyota spent an incredible amount of money to make his car look good and in the end a ‘95 Voyager looks better.

Currently replacing “Ford” lug nuts on 2 vehicles. Can confirm it gets worse every time I take them to a tire shop.

yep. they’re not rusting or swelling, unlike the ones Chrysler used in the ‘80s. the chrome cap is crimped air-tight onto the nut. Hammering on them with old impact sockets deforms the caps.

If I had to work on that FRS And work needed to be do e u der the hood, I’d just tell the owner to take it back because I don’t want to break any of his little art installation.

You’re misunderstanding. I’ve dealt with these myself on a friends fusion. The cap swells and the normal sized socket won’t fit on, and sometimes the cap bends and strips while the actual nut doesn’t move. If you simply got a socket that fit without hammering it simply spins the cap.
I’m sure the wheels had been taken off before so maybe the wrong sized socket was used before, but they didn’t look deformed at all and I have never had this problem with any other car I’ve had.
