I kid, this car is not like the Pacer, the engine inside it is modified to drink our shitty, shitty gasoline; and it has less compression than the regular straight six. Im not a VAM historian but I think we didn't get the V8 here

I like the Pacer. I do not like that grill. AMC designed something cool looking, and then some asshole decided the thing it needed most was to look more like other ‘70s American crap.

So what is VAM and where is this located?

It always fascinated me that the Pacer got an I6 engine, though a thoroughly gutless one.

They had to raise the hood to accommodate the V8, which required the taller grille. As it was, it was a miracle the straight six fit under the original sheet metal, since it was only supposed to have a rotary.

VAM used to be a Mexican “car” company that brought over all sorts of crap from the US.

Renault bought it when they went bankrupt

I believe their headquarters were in Mexico City, in Industrial Vallejo... They also got other cars imported by bringing them in in parts, assembling them here, and then selling them.

Later they made their “own” car out of scraps from AMC products, it was called the VAM Lerma.
