Mobile posting is garbage. I am working on getting my citizenship and thinking about moving next fall. If any Italian Oppo's want to answer some stupid questions let me know. I promise a fair number of them will be automotive related.

Are you hiring a company to file the paperwork or doing it yourself? I’m assuming you’re claiming citizenship under their jus sanguinis law.

My relatives have a farm in Calabria. My brother just got back from visiting.

If we have Italians in Oppo, where are all the Tipo posts?!

Yeah claiming birthright citizenship. I am gathering all the US paperwork  myself and then paying someone to take that, add the Italian stuff I need and translate the whole mess into a binder I can take with me to apply next time I am in Italy.

I’ll be doing the same shortly for my kids and I.

Not an Italian, but here we go. New and old.

Interestingly and as it happens I’m posting this from Sweden, specifically an island off Stockholm (Tranholmen, Google is your friend) .

Are you moving there to start a ‘Molise Miglia’ or ‘ Targa Fornelli’ rally/rental company? Lots of great roads....just start buying some old (and new) cars and rent them out like Turo. If you offered a Fiata 124 for rental I’d be a customer.

Start a company and have bi-annual rallys. Molise will pay you!

Just so you’re aware, if you move there, you will be the first person I come to when I want to find and import a Piaggio Ape TM to Canada :P

They’re around in Europe, but command surprising price tags....they’re really common in Italy, and a lot cheaper! :D

Haha might take a while before my Italian comprehension is to the level of “ export a car".

Half joking, of course! :P

That being said, curious what makes you want to move to Italy...I have nothing against it or anything, just curious why you wanted to move there! Wouldn’t it be a little hard to find work without speaking the language yet, or can you work remotely, or?

I already speak a bit of Italian so that part won’t be too bad but things like legal document comprehension are rough. My wife can work remotely and we plan on moving to a lower income region so her income alone would make us upp er middle class. Homes are very cheap (<50k for a 3 bed house) so we can buy a house cash there and rent out our home in SLC for a profit. After a few years we would move back to Utah and keep the house in Italy as a vacation house for us and any friends that want to use it.

If I pick a time without traffic jams and drive south for approximately 3 hours I’d be in Italy. Close enough?

I love driving in Italy, and Molise is a beautiful region high up on our list.
