sigh I hate KTM

of all the stupid, moronic, retarded ways to have bikes preped

they choose quite possibly the worst
explain to me

why the FUCK

a bike has to be registered through their portal.

in order to open the ‘unpack software’

and then to be able to take the bike out of ‘shipping mode’

why is there a shipping mode, other then for you guys to be a right pain in my ballsack

right now, their website is down, and I cant get the bikes prepped and PDIed.

so, I’m los ing 3 deals (~ 1200 in my pocket) because of some fucking idiots ‘brillant’ idea.

Kinja'd!!!

fucking dumpster fire of a company. The bike are great. the company and corporate is shit.

The buyers won't return once the website is back up? It's not as though they can go somewhere else and get one either if the other dealers have to use the same software portal.

Are new bike buyers more impulsive than new car buyers? I’d think they would just come back tomorrow, or whenever, to finish the paperwork and take delivery, but I also know nothing about folks that buy motorcycles.

I’ve bought plenty of vehicles (even new) that I didn’t take immediate delivery of. It wasn’t like I was going to go across the street a buy a Silverado because the deal on my then brand new 05 F-150 couldn’t be finalized until the next business day.

the thing is, its been a WEEK and they havent fixxed their shit. which is infuratinig as fuck to me.

Oh, wow.  A week certainly feels like the unreasonable side of a delay to purchase an in-stock vehicle.  I read this as something like a today only kind of problem.

From what I’ve dealt with, KTM separates their service branches in USA. I went to a KTM dealer and they only had dirt bikes. I asked if I could get a road bike serviced and they emphatically said they would refuse to service it. They’re not even that reliable, so I don’t get why they make all these hoops for customers and dealers to jump through?

The more BS I hear about in the motorcycle world , the more I like my KLR.

Lots of vehicles with various electronics will have a shipping/transport mode that needs to be disabled during PDI. Real common for the last decade. Reason being is to keep the electronics from draining batteries while vehicles sit for a couple months. That mode keeps all but the bare minimum systems 100% offline.

or, you know, do what everyone else does.

and NOT ship the bike with the battery in it? or the battery disconnected?

or in the case of Kawasaki, taking it out of ‘shipping’ mode is connecting a plug?

NOT having it to be connected to some database way the fuck over in Austria?

S o these vehicles are left in shipping/transport mode right up until it’s time for the PDI? When is the PDI performed? As soon as the dealer receives it for inventory, or right before the customer takes delivery?

And what is meant by “bare minimum”? Is it still drivable at that point? Like for test drives?

Kinja'd!!! AMGtech - now with more recalls! > Urambo Tauro
09/27/2019 at 01:17

Kinja'd!!!1

PDI is usually done as soon as possible after dealer takes possession. Transport mode can be left on if the vehicle it’s expected to sit for a while though.

Yes, driveable. On a car, wipers, drivers door functions, drive up to about 25mph, lights. Nothing else. Not for customer test drives. It's meant for moving around shipping yards and warehouses, on and off of trucks.

PDi for bikes is done before customer takes possession .
They are shipped in crates and kept in the crate until its bought by someone or we put it on the showroom .
and no, its no drivable. bike is locked down.
