Totally, his hands don’t move much but you can tell there’s some bobbing and weaving going on at that speed.

Guy’s from New Zealand and has a few videos topping out his Vette

That’s a good video. I had my former 93 LT1/6 speed  up to a bit over 150 once. There was more there, but that was as irresponsible as I was willing to be that day.  Things get fast once you get past about 130.

Nice knowing that if you blow a tire or an engine you are dead......

The 1990 ZR-1 set the 24 hour world endurance speed record at just under 175mph. It was a showroom stock car with a roll cage, fuel tank quick coupler, and it carried 300 lbs. of spare parts in case of a breakdown the driver had to repair the car and continue. The car was limited to 70% WOT. Technically it still holds the record for a real production car, it was broken by a prototype VW, 12 cylinder. Several manufacturers have tried including Porsche, Ford and others to break the record and all failed.

The LT5 redlines from the factory at 7200 rpm, and mind you can Rev higher with some small tweaks. I’m restoring a 1990Z now, it’s a lot of car for the money and highly underrated. I doubt mine will ever see top speed as I am getting a little older but I do intend on driving the wheels off her. It’s not going to be a trailer queen. I paid 5k for her and she has 70k miles, I think I got a great deal, I have her running and am finishing up a lot of small things being she sat for 5 or so years.

Great video, that LT5 is singing.

This story sounds familiar. Out of curiosity, have you ever brought your ZR-1 to the Somernights Cruise in Somerset, KY?

180 with trees 10' off the road... Yikes.

Wow. That’s a narrow road for that speed and trees near at hand. But very cool.

Oh man, I’ve only done about 120 on a track. That fast on the road must be exciting to say the least haha

Pics of the 40th ‘ 93??

I did.  Man that LT5 was a helluva an engine-- it deserved more “homes” in different engine bays.

Should one be inclined, New Mexico offers some gloriously all but deserted state highways that in places with no population that go across planes that are dead flat and straight with 10 miles+ lines of sight. There’s no risk to anyone beyond yourself. The usual disclaimers aside, if one is inclined to bury the speedometer on their car, there are worse places to do so. I’d never attempt it on a interstate or any road with another car, building, person or sign of human existence  visible anywhere on it.

My personal definition of fast starts at about 130. That’s about the speed at which you can see something like an imperfection in the road and by the time you can see it and your brain can process “hey idiot, that’s a pothole” that you’re already on top of it.
