I don’t know. Earliest I see on the Internet Archive is 2011-05-04, but I’m pretty sure that’s not the start: https://web.archive.org/web/20110505040811/http://jalopnik.com/oppositelock/forum

Maybe there was another URL before that (jalopnik.com/oppositelock just redirects there, again starting in 2011), or maybe archive.org just didn’t capture it before then.

Thats when I first started coming to Oppo and reading. I didnt start posting until about 2011 or so. I have to imagine it was around before then though in the form of the off-topic blog of jalopnik or whatever. Probably by various other names. That is where the “front page” moniker came from for jalopnik.

I think it was 2011 as forum within Jalopnik , then moved to its own separate address at opposite lock.jalopnik.com when Kinja 1.0 launched in Feb 2013 (later renamed oppositelock.kinja.com).

It had it’s own spot before Feb 2013. I might be wrong, but I vaguely remember seeing a fairly recent reference to 2010.

Just Oppo/Off Topic. I’d been floating around the various automotive sites and didn’t really like any of them until I found Jalopnik, and then I found Off Topic. And I’ve been here ever since. I believe t here are several Opponauts who have been here longer than me.
