Transmission cooler lines on the Unsolicited Explorer need to be quick-disconnected before pulling the radiator out for replacement. Where is the tool supposed to go on these? I haz a dumb.

The too goes into the part where rubber connects to metal, from the metal side. Push River and metal sides together, insert tool, and it should come apart. They're usually pretty easy once you get the hang of it. But I recommend spraying some penetrating oil in first.

Harbor Freight has “Fluid Disconnect Tool Set” for these that are darn cheap and darn handy. Made short work of some GM fuel tank hose couplings and fuel rail disconnects recently.

The first time you do it, you’d swear it’ll never work-- but it does.

This is easier to understand than the descriptions I found on the internet. Thanks!

I have two different quick-disconnect tool sets, one for the fuel lines on the Miata and one for the cooler lines on Mom's Liberty. Hopefully one of these will work.

You need a Ford specific stepped tool to get them loose

Ya, I haven’t got one of those. I did find a workaround that didn’t require disconnecting the transmission cooler, though, but I’ll keep this in mind when the cooler calls it quits.
