Roadtrip Photos Part 2

On this trip I took mostly film I was familiar with, but I also took a roll of Provia 100F, and Ektachrome E100. The Provia, because for most of my dad’s photography career, he shot Fuji Provia and Astia. The Ektachrome was to compare to the Provia, since it’s a more modern film. Anyways, I finally have it developed and scanned acceptably.

Provia first, this takes us from Hinton, AB (about an hour outside Jasper), through Jasper and Banff National Parks, to Osoyoos , BC.

Now onto Ektachrome. This takes us from OK Falls/Penticton to home. The last photos are from the Cascades Lookout in Manning Park, which I highly recommend.

Thanks, I’m really happy with a lot of them. Several were erring on overexposed once scanned, but the slides themselves just look amazing on a lightbox. I’ll definitely shoot more slide film, but it’s frustrating trying to match the scans to how they look in person.

I don't know how they looked in real life, but part of me refuses to believe this shot is real. Has to be one of the best I've seen in a while, hands down.

It certainly didn’t look like that saturated , it was overcast and pretty hazy light, like when it’s rained somewhat recently. Overexposing slide film doesn’t work in full sun, but I think overexposing a little with hazy/cloudy light is what did that. Plus the scanner, it pulled more blue out than their really was, and I couldn’t fix that without making the other colours look wrong, without spending a ton of time on it. Anways, thanks, I really appreciate it!

Thanks! Yeah I’m wanting to do the same, but I doubt I’ll have the spare time/money for a bit. The sask trip just made me want to do more long road trips, I want to do a proper cross Canada trip, and go up to Alaska

I see you were in Radium. That is such a cool section of road by the hot springs. Did you go to Naramata, some of theses shots look familiar. I love that area...

Yeah, it’s gotta be the coolest entrance to a town I’ve ever seen.

We did go to Naramata, I hadn’t been there since I was a kid. I think the photos are just  from OK Falls and Penticton, but yeah the same area
