That is the only plausible explanation for Haas re signing Grosjean.

Guenther’s explanation does make sense . The current Haas car is junk and that can’t be blamed on the drivers.

Grosjean can be good in a good car, he hasn’t gotten 10 podiums for no reason, but he can also be a bit of a disaster, quite often.

Hopefully, even without Rich Energy sponsorship next season , the Haas cars continue with the black and gold livery. If they can’t be fast they might as well look good doing it.

Ugh. I used to like Romain, but the last few seasons he’s become insufferable. There’s a lot of whining and placing blame outside of himself. I never see a hint of introspective “I have some things to fix within myself.”

That and when F1 was releasing the driver meetings on Youtube a couple seasons ago , he kind of came across as the kid who’d remind the teacher that they had forgotten to assign homework and was always asking questions.

I was not so secretly hoping Haas would dump him for Hulk or someone equally experienced and proven. But no, the American team retains the grid’s most annoying driver.

Ohhh, sorry you meant Grosjean.

I wasn’t hoping Haas wasn’t going to renew his contract. I just assumed he was done when Ocon got signed, I figured it was a done deal and Hulk would get his seat. I was totally surprised it was announced earlier that he got re-signed.

Haha, yeah, Seb’s gotten pretty bad, too. And hey, the last time he had no ones but his teammate had multiple, he left the team... Are we gonna see history repeat??

There was a rumor this summer that Ferrari are considering his replacements and that Vettel himself effectively does want to be done and retire, spend more time with his family and the like. I’m pretty sure he’ll see out his contract through the end of 2020, but after that, I think Vettel will indeed retire.

That’s when things get real interesting. Mercedes will also be looking for a replacement for Bottas, but also someone who can take the mantle over for when Hamilton eventually retires. The only two guys of high enough caliber in the field who will potentially be available at that point? Ricciardo and Verstappen. And I could see a scenario where one goes to Ferrari, the other Mercedes. I could also potentially see one of them taking a chance with Russell or maybe even Norris.

Though if Honda gets their shit together and becomes as powerful or moreso than Merc or Ferrari power units, I’d be tempted to stay at Red Bull if I were in Max’s shoes. Undoubtedly most days, that Red Bull chassis is the class of the field and is the only reason the Honda engine is as competitive as it is, just like when they had Renault power. Adrian Newey still works magic with chassis and aero design.

Next year’s silly season is going to be WAY more interesting.
