Overall thoughts: yep, this will probably be my next car.
Even the XLT is a nice place to be. The only thing it doesn’t have that I want is the sound system.
The back seat has plenty of room, too.
Driving impressions: it can really scoot along. Quick acceleration, steering is very light, but the turning radius is awesome. We took a grid road at my request and it handled well. Definitely not as stable as the bigger trucks, but very good.
Overall, excellent truck. And the staff at Melody Ford in Melfort actually took care of me and asked me to test drive, even though I'm a year out from buying. I'm sold.

I love the look, I’ve see a few on the road and it just looks so much better than the Chevy Colorado and Canyon. I kinda want one too.

I say do it! Just no to those god awful wheels. You need Utility not chrome for the North.

You’re in pants and flannel; meanwhile, we're 80s in Virginia. Finally starting to cool: 60's at night!

Hard sell. Discounts are ratcheting up on F-150 crew cabs making the price almost the same.

I think this is the spec I would get: Supercab 4x4 6' bed
with the fx4
and tow
package. Fairly basic but then again I don’t think I could bring myself to buy a new truck

For sure. No chrome. It’s tacky.

Lariat and it’s perfect. You’ll love locking your car with your elbow.

But I don’t want an F-150.

They are quite good looking trucks.

It warmed up, but it was a light flannel. I mainly wore it to be taken seriously as I’m 24.

I’m a huge fan of them now. With the right deals and discounts, it’ll be worth it.

My f irst car purchase was at 23, and I was lucky to not have to deal with BS. I went to a prestigious local university and was straight up told (while buying a MINI): "we'll treat you good now to make sure you come back for a BMW in a few years when you graduate from there."

I looked at it a little. I’m no longer on a dad trajectory, so it’s a no from me.

Did you put the basic sound system through its paces at all? That’s one thing I have so far forgotten to do and I feel like it might be a h angup on buying one of these.
The base system in my WRX is hot garbage while the standard stuff in my base model Golf was pretty excellent - it bugs me to this day, 3 years later I miss that about the VW . Now that I’ve got the BMW aurally spoiling me I don’t know that I can have a shitty sound system anymore, it would disappoint me all the time.

The basic sound system is decent. But I drive enough and blast enough music to make the Lariat worth it. Once I’m seriously shopping, I’ll triple check that.

It’s extra hard to justify the almost $10K more when the only thing I really want from the Lariat is the B&O system, which is still an option package on top of the trim level.
I’ll have to play with the basic system to see if I can get it close enough to my liking. The local dealer did just get an XLT exactly how I would spec it.
Decisions are hard.

Yup. Especially on such a large purchase, it's so easy to go "well what's another few thousand?" Instead of "is this really worth it?"

We had a ‘14 Limited (my wife’s) for a little over 4 years and loved it. Sadly we traded it in on a brand new van last October because they’re just the right answer for family duty.
An d while, yeah, the van does everything better, dammit, it’s just not a Flex.

A Flex ST woulda been sweet, but the existing Ecoboost model can definitely haul the mail.

Hard to believe Ford killed the old ranger and old focus long ago believing nobody wanted a small truck or fun hatchback .
