Okay, this one I was debating posting at all.
Rarely do I lose my cool. but at 7.30 I came around the corner to find a giant blue harley smack dab in the middle of my lane.
going in the wrong direction.
emergency
avoidance maneuvers
, then i went back to have a word with him.
I fell mildly ashamed for how I handled it. I would have done it differently, but well, I
don’t
take kindly to peoples lack of skill resulting in danger for me.
but knee draggin!
(yes, I’m expecting the posts saying i’m a hypocrite, I shouldn't
be going so fast, etc etc etc) But this really was fucking retarded.

Your riding looks fine. I f that guy was in your lane, he should apologize. Didn't look out of control in the least.

I forgot which magazine or webiste brought it up, but one of the motorcycle periodicals dared to say that Harley pushing the “most manly” bikes on to new riders would result in 700+lb bikes being ridden poorly in dangerous situations by inexperienced riders or riders who’ve been absent from biking for far too long to safely handle them. Seems this here is proof of what they were saying.
And I said that to say this - I think you were a bit hot headed in that situation, but I am trying to start a phrase for the riding community in situations like this. Yes, you should’ve been riding “safer” so that you saw his mistake happening sooner. But then that raises the question of why we bother to teach riding if the purpose of education is to account for the uneducated? To put it simply - I will not be held accountable for someone else’s mistakes. He did deserve a bit of anger and emotion. And shame on him for not stopping initially . He gets huffy about it when you confront him as if almost hitting you head-on just isn’t a big deal since.....well.....that’s what he’s used to - telling people to basically get out of his way when he makes a mistake.

I 100% agree that I was hotheaded...like i said, i felt a little bad.
but like you say, that is HIS mistake. NOT mine.
and if you listen to the convo I had at the end, he was REPEATEDLY over the line. I was just the only one to go back after him.

Honestly was impressed by your lane control. I hate seeing video’s of people driving over the double yellow on blind turns, this isn’t a race track.
TOTD looks amazing BTW. Nice riding and bike!

When I used to get popular mechanics, maybe 15 years ago there was a bit on all the new safety gear. After 18-24year olds t he fastest increase in accidents/fatalities was 50-56 of boomers, with cash going out and buying harleys in many cases for the first time in decades. , and this group was one of the least likely to wear gear.
