Nonetheless, it’s clear that Tesla wants to push those vehicles to their limits on the demanding racetrack and according to German car magazine !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! , they brought Nordschleife expert Thomas Mutsch, amongst others, to drive the cars.

The magazine has an “observer” at the track who reportedly recorded Mutsch doing a 7:23 minutes lap in one of the modified Tesla Model S vehicles:

“But what the new drive can do he has already shown on some very fast laps. Our observer reports a hand-stopped lap time of 7:23 minutes – as I said: hand-stopped with corresponding inaccuracies. But that would be about 20 seconds faster than that Porsche Taycan. The weather conditions on Monday (16.9.) were rather cool with 18 degrees and heavy cloud cover.”

Very hard to believe, as that would be faster than a 997 GT2 RS...

It has wider Cup 2 R tires, three motors, and I assume a completely track-tuned suspension. Very, very unlikely a car in this spec would ever see production.

Elon says it still has 7 seats inside, though.

The heavily tinted windows and the use of car covers are pretty much confirming that the interior has been stripped.

I think their test cars might have (enlarged) carbon ceramic brake discs.

Perhaps.  In fairness one of those modified AMG four-doors got around in not a whole lot more than that number.  To get anywhere close to it, Tesla must have tamed some of their “thermal load” demons...

Where I see this going..

Tesla: “We shattered the Taycan’s lap time on the ring with a non-production, stripped out car and an extra motor running on R compound tires.”

Porsche: “Taycan GT2 RS has 1000bhp, clocked 7:15 at the ring...and it has a full interior”
