Nothing comes close to Donut media for educated opinions backed by years of experience analyzing, testing and writing about cars behind it.

I missed your posts about yours, TOLD YOU THE PLUG WIRES WERE IN THE WRONG SPOTS!
I also feel like a swap is gonna be more of a headache than fixing what you’ve got. As far as timing goes, take the belt off, pull the distributor off, set the timing from the crank mark (inspection hole should have a little plastic or metal cap over by the distributor), set the cam TDC, belt on, reinstall distributor at TDC. I did that on my Golf and solved similar issues.
Shifting issues just sound like it’s out of alignment. That happens on these. Keep a cassette tape handy.

But what if I want to be shouted at in both loud text and loud voice!
