How did I not hear about this! Looks like Ewan and Charlie are back, riding up through South America on modified Harley Davidson Livewires and possibly with Rivian pickup trucks in support.

Note Claudio in the background too :)

There’s nothing official announced yet but they have a blank “watch this space” FB page and given the kit spotted in Argentina it sure looks like it’s happening. Maybe they’re trying to tread lightly so as to avoid getting mobbed.

Seriously Jalopnik, that I had to learn about this from a “the drive” sponsored ad in my Facebook crawl speaks poorly to your coverage of unconfirmed rumor and speculation...

Its a far cry from the first trip when BMW setup a website to track their location as they rode around the world.

Now I’m wondering which way up they’ll go? west coast mountains seems too direct and I feel like riding through Amazonia would be a thing to do but then you’ve got to go through Venezuela which would ill advised even if you weren’t riding hyper American electric vehicles... Also TIL that Google maps says you can’t drive into Panama from the south, there are literally no roads.

I’m not here to r ag on them, all the departing staff roasts over on Deadspin make it sound like the parent company has a culture of more videos, increase clicks (rather than unique pageviews) and lower quality. They still do great original pieces, I figure the other stuff pays the bills and keeps the passing through traffic up.

Given the name, seems like they’d be doing the Pan America Highway? Southern tip of South America to... well if I were doing it I’d end in Tuktoyaktuk. Interesting to see how they’ll deal with the Darian Gap. If they go through it, I’m going to lose my mind, but given the physical and political dangers I’m going to guess they’ll take a boat .

Well the rumors say they’re ending in LA, which would make sorta sense since they’ve been down from Alaska before.

Just riding the Pan-American doesn’t seem like their style, I’ve read pieces before saying that it’s just a highway and not that much of an adventure to go down the length of.

I got googling on the Darien gap after my realization above and I'm doubtful they'd do it - my guess is electric Harleys don't ford well...

I was always a little skeptical about that segment but IIRC it did end the trip prematurely so clearly they outstayed their welcome. These guys have a history of visiting Unicef projects and generally being the opposite of Jeremy Clarkson so they’ll be fine in Argentina, it’s further up it gets dicey.

That said apparently the kids by the wayside did chuck a lot of small stones at them as they rode through parts of Africa.

In fairness, Jalopnik no longer has a true motorcycle coverage.

Brownell and Brown try, but neither are nowhere near the motorcycle talent Jalop used to have. To me, they read as car guys that just happen to own bikes and were told they should make a bike post every now and then.

Funnily enough I’m not a bike guy, just love those shows. I t hink this post is due a follow up though , they’ve been pretty tight lipped but I’ve watched Jimmy Simac’s instagram go through Argentina, Chile and Peru so far.
