After spending the whole day Saturday test riding numerous Trek and Giant bikes, I went back for a 2nd look at the Specialized Sirrus I liked initially. Ended up pulling the trigger and ordering one.

Being one for crazy colors, I went with the Acid Kiwi/Black combo:

Kinja'd!!!

Should be in here 2 weeks tops. Super Pumped.

My wife decided on a Trek Verve 3 as she likes the more cruiser style riding position.

This also brought us to the decision that the kids need new bikes as well since they will no longer be able to keep pace. My oldest will likely end up with a Specialized Sirrus like mine ( only hers will be Satin Plum/Acid Lava colored )

Kinja'd!!!

and my middle daughter really liked the Specialized HotRock 24" in Neon Blue

We’re getting ours this year yet as they’re on sale currently, we’ll get the kids new bikes in the spring.

Congratulations! Now about that saddle ... On middle/high-en d bikes, padding is in the shorts instead of on the bike. There are a lot of reasons for that, but it’s mostly due to proper fit, moisture management, and friction reduction.

If you decide to ride without cycling shorts, it’s going to take some time for your arse to adjust to sitting on the sit-bones instead of the meat. Regular shorts will make this process worse before it gets better. Chafing downstairs is no fun. A pair of cycling “liners” ( underwear) will help a lot. Whatever you do, DON’T buy one of those goofy gel seat pads. One of those will make matters even worse. The sit-bones will push through the gel and force it up, putting even more pressure on your softer parts.

I highly recommend a bit of reading before you make any decisions regarding your seating:

That’s a good bike. I hope you like it. When I got my epic this year I really wanted that purple/pink combo but they only had the dark blue/green combo. Still a sharp color.

I was able to get about 10 miles on it without issue, so as it stands I have no plans to change out the seating. I will definitely give those a read if I do decide to, thanks again!

Only 16.9 lbs heavier than the bike I ordered, I doubt I’d notice that difference at all.........

That would be super cool to have as a novelty bike though.

Nice picks. They should be good all-around bikes!
