My Dad is UAW at Ford. I just hope the Union and striking actually benefits them/us.

‘Cause to hear Dad tell it, he’s still really proud to be union, but the union doesn’t do much these days.

Uaw does it alot for ya if your a crappy worker or have the right last name has been my experience but it’s also the reason for making decent money.

Sad part is we could use a strong union with strong honest leadership but here we are.

J ust wait till Trump sticks his nose in this. Yikes

I don’t like the UAW, but they were right on this one. Fuck GM for closing Lordstown while expanding Ramos Asswipe

Yeah, Dad’s a hard worker. I remember him asking one of his supervisors if he could leave because he wasn’t feeling well and another came up and said “Let him go, he’s one of my best workers.”

I expected them to shut a truck plant or two but Jones probably said F it if I’m going to get indicted might as  well.

I worked at a GM plant for a year. IUE not UAW but yeah- 90+% great people but management spends 90% of its time dealing with the 10%.

And management had  a tendency over the long haul to take the path of least resistance with that 10% - which results in some of the majority switching to the dark side.

So true on the management part. I can so see some government over sight coming to the Uaw soon. I wonder what the books look like in some of these local halls?

Is the IUE any better than the UAW?

At the time I was there, that plant filed more grievances than any other plant GM owned. So no, they were worse. And the contract just tagged along with whatever the UAW got.

That site is parking lot now.

I’ve never been entirely anti union but I’ve also never really blindly believed they are the benevolent gatekeepers some do either. At one time inhistory they were an absolute necessity. And maybe they still are but like any organization there exists the potential for corruption and losing the direction of your cause
