I think that might be the answer to “What if David Tracy lived in the Netherlands?”

I’m new to this and just bought a full susp Scott off Craigslist. Maxxis seems like the tire most people use. You’re allowed to use something else?

And first time with tubeless.  Are they really that difficult to unmount?

unmounting aint so hard.... its mounting them.. the tubeless tires have a very strong metal cabled lower lip....getting them on the rim is hard work

oh and yes you are allowed to use something else

pretty much any tire in the correct size is fair game... really comes down to the kind of thread pattern you prefer

i use pretty low profile knobblies as i mostly ride around on the streets/dirt trails

pretty much boils down to low profile= more speed less grip (more grip on paved) high profile big ass knobblies less speed more grip (less grip on paved)

Thanks for the tips. I am new to this. Just figured out how to set my fork air pressure.

I’m doing dirt/technical rocks/steep hills. No street. I’m in Colorado after all. I would’ve thought you’d ride your road bike(s ) on streets.

So you think no big deal between name brands (Maxxis, Schwalbe, Kenda, Bontrager )?

no big deal nope maxxis and schwalbe make good tires little cheaper than most but ive never had a problem with them

never had kenda so cant say anything about them

i love my bontragers coz they are very easy to mount and cause surprisingly little spray in the wet...but they do puncture quite easy

continentals new black chili compound tires are exceptionally puncture resistant but pricey

avoid vredestein... the tires ive had from them were super soft and wore down in no time flat....also puncture prone...and not cheap

I don’t need punctures when I’m on a mountain three hours from the car.  I’ll stick with Maxxis then.  Thanks!

anytime :)

be sure to carry a spare tube or tubeless puncture kit if you are going to venture that far away from the car (and a little pump i guess)

getting stranded in the middle of nowhere sucks and walking back takes forever

Bontrager tires are usually pretty  good.
