I’m going to smoke some meth, burn down a school, rough up s ome old people and drive a stolen car into a smoke shop.

And I’d still be among the best behaved in Surrey

You’d be a model citizen in Surrey.

Oh God, I'm gonna have to hear about this all day tomorrow at the office... We got some folks that are REALLY into man-made non-phenomenons.

Beat them to the punch: set something on fire in the parking lot, shouting “I can’t help myself! Do you know what day it is? ”

The worst days for first responders are family centric holidays. Christmas, Thanksgiving, etc. Worst call schedule ever for a surgical resident.  My wife fucking hated it.

Family holidays are also extra depressing when things go sideways . We’ve had dead bodies at Christmas.

It’s a harvest moon AND at full apogee too - sh!t’ s gonna get real, (or not.)

In other news - we have lighting, (rare for Puget Sound area,) and I just saw one hit a plane.  Not kidding - like a 737 or A320 or something - zap, to the nose and off the tail.  Maybe there is something to the whole full moon thing.

I’m going to have my iPhone accidentally call the Flathead county sheriffs office enough to make the police blotter.

Yeah, holidays will make or break your faith. One of my mates was doing pediatrics on call and we went out afterwards to just drink. He had to take care of an infant from a very well known Texas family who went from “ normal” to “ will need help feeding, clothing, going to the bathroom, will never earn a living.”. You can’t shake babies that much for that long.

I regret not going into med school until I see the shit physicians deal with.

Take care and stay safe externally and internally.

That’s fucked. All calls involving babies and 911 are never good.

I’ve done CPR on a guy for 25 minutes who I knew was dead, but I had to wait for EMS to call it. The family was doing it when I got there, and I couldn’t not do anything.

I couldn’t work as a paramedic or doctor, I deal with way less death and tragedy they do. Those guys deserve more than we can possibly give them.

And thanks. A good crew and a good head go a long way in this line of work.

My wife comes home with the toll daily.  We save aggressively so she can get out.  Physician fatigue is real.

I hope she’s well covered by her employer for any emotional stuff. We get six one hour sessions per year with a psychologist, and can put in for more if we go through traumatic experiences.

Hopefully she can get to a point where she can do less emotionally tolling work.

I’m sure they’ve already explored this and shot it down, but I’ll talk to my wife about it. We go out to dine with the ceo every once in a while. He’s probably heard that before but it is always nice to hear their response even if they still shoot it down. Judge t heir character you see.

To your second point, it’s why we save so aggressively. No fancy cars, no third car that’s a convertible.

It’s a thing where what’s more important: money, or having employees well enough to work. A lot of employers still have issues with that.

Try to imagine the pressures of working as a 911 dispatcher. To be the calm voice on the other end, despite the overwhelming inability to directly do anything other than talk to the caller and relay everything to the responders...

Now imagine 9/11 for the NY dispatchers.
