I’ve got a bunch of parts queued up at Rock Auto, I just need to check the engine casting code when I get home. There are apparently 2 different block castings so I need to make sure I get the right parts.

My wife would o rder both and return the one that doesn’t fit. At least, that’s what she does with clothes and shoes.

Mine does the same. But I don’t feel like fronting an extra ~$200. Its also just as good, at this point I can’t get the parts for the weekend anyways without paying an arm and leg , so I can verify tonight, use cheap shipping and save myself some money.
I got a screaming good deal on the Volvo and, after a lot of back and forth with myself, have decided to fix the major issues and then flip the car. I already have a neighbor who is interested, but I may also look into trading it for something else interesting.

Take a look at fcpeuro.com. Lifetime warranty and they sell kits for the job. As does IPD, come to think of it. While you have it apart you might as well change the cam seals (about $3 each) and don’t skimp on the tensioner and water pump , as they should be replaced as well.
The kit is $243 on FCP: https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/volvo-timing-belt-kit-and-water-pump-kit-comprehensive-oem-parts-tbkit252wp

You read my mind - I’ve been looking at both FCP and IPD, as well as Rock Auto. Theres some stuff I’m probably going to be ordering from each one. RockAuto has a p remium Dayco kit with all the stuff you mentioned for $193 shipped so I’m leaning towards that. I’m also going to throw a new serpentine belt on it since I’ll have it off, and may grab a right side engine mount. The car clunks now, usually on accel/decel so I think it’s a mount issue , but the upper and lower torque arms seem good. It’s only $20 and I’ll be working in that area so I may just do the right mount then re-evaluate.
This poor little car has had basically no maintenance done to it aside from oil changes probably since that timing belt was replaced . After I get through with the timing belt and all that, I’m thinking I may do struts/shocks and also plugs/wires/cap/rotor. The exterior needs a good Svending, and I need to source replacement front seats from the local junkyard. After all that it should be a good little car. My neighbor has already expressed interest in buying it for her middle son, so I may end up flipping it to her and putting the money towards something else.

Consider if you need the crankshaft pulley holder or not as well. For my 240 I figured I could make it work without the tool....I did. I should have just bought the tool. Also lifetime warranty is great, but unless I’m wrong that doesn’t account for time spent replacing the parts

Thank you, thats good advice. I’ll look into the tool.
And you’re right, I think the lifetime warranty on the parts is just the part itself and there’s no coverage for the labor. On one hand still better than nothing, on the other I may just go for a better deal because I’m not planning on keeping this car long. I got a heck of a good deal on the car, but my parts list is already over $600. Granted my goal isn’t pure profit, it’s also to have some fun and learn some stuff and have a spare car so I can get a few major tasks done on the Cruze, but I’d like to at least a little something on it when I sell it.

It doesn't count the time, just the parts, but includes all wear items. You can send your windshield wipers back and they'll replace them.

I always want to give FCP euro my money because of their amazing warranty, stellar customer service, and straightforward and clear labelling system for parts. The only problem is RockAuto always ends up being 1/4 of the price for me in Canada. I can not recommend FCP Euro more.

I’m thinking your Vo’ is FWD so I’m not sure if the crankshaft pulley holder applies....but if it does and there is a special tool...buy it and save some of your sanity. Also if you don’t already know about him check out “RobertDIY” on YouTube, I think he has a website as well. He has a million videos on how to do various things on both the FWD and RWD Volvos, and he is detailed but keeps things accessible. Good luck!

My Vo is FWD, so that should make it easier. I've already found RobertDIY and watched his video about 20 times. Hes got a lot of great content. I've also found MatthewsVolvoSite to be helpful as well.

Ahh the good old Volvo Byte Exchange
Did mine last year, didn’t even have to put a new sticker on. Just wiped the old info off with some rubbing alcohol.
And I used a fancy blue racing-rated timing belt, adds 5 hp yo
