I live in northern Quebec and as long as I remember it’s always been -35c and colder to close schools, and I was in school in the 80s

They changed the method of calculating wind chill some time in the last 35 years. Minus 50-60 was common in Chicago back then, now it never happens.

-83 maybe is minus 40 or so now?  IDK.

Even with the revision to the windchill calculation, it’s still -45C and -55C today.

-55C is the guideline now, but yeah i think the numbers changed around 2000 or so?

I’m not sure when they changed - I just remember that the wind chills of my childhood are never seen around here now. Due to the definition, more than climate change.

what I don’t get is why so many planets in Star Wars have one mono-climate.  Desert world of Tattooine, Forest moon of Endor, Ice world of Hoth, etc....
