You’ll be doing this every 48 hours for as long as you own the car, hope you liked it.
He re’s a good one for you - when I took delivery of the wagon, the dealership detail crew wiped it down before I took possession - against my instructions. They used microfiber cloths on the interior glass - on a new car with under 50 miles on it. It took weeks for me to clean that mess up.

Ye’, when I take delivery of a car, I instruct the dealership not to do anything other than remove the film to inspect the paint.

Around here the trend seems to be to remove the film when the car arrives on the lot, then let the car sit in the elements for 6 months before it finds a buyer (I buy cars in stock, better negotiating leverage). I clay a car and apply a couple coats of wax the first day. When I started leasing, I thought it would cure me of this fixation - nope.

Little fibers all over the glass that weren’t visible in most light, but in low light or at night would catch the light and be glaring to my eyes. Very difficult to remove with paper towels and glass cleaner, probably took 10 passes to remove the leftovers. A couple hours of work.

Dealers here I’d say 60-70% of the cars they get in are already sold as a customer has ordered one to spec. 30% of the time the dealership may buy some to sit on the forecourt to boost their figures briefly or to add the new models or common requested models and specs to win new customers.

That’s why I use used microfibres where the majority of any loose lint has been shed, but also I follow it up with a suede cloth inside of simply a light spray of window cleaner and blue roll tissue to remove any lint on the outside. Only using the microfibre to remove the bulk of any grime.

I think in the US or NA in general, special order cars are rare. It is possible, especially with premium brands, but everyone (including me) is looking for a good deal, and a car that has sat around will sell for less. I’ve never ordered a car, although my last couple were close to how I would spec them myself. I seldom find a car that is as I would build it, as there’s always some weird option that I would choose, never chosen by the dealer.

Yeah, the lint, that’s what it was - tons of it, and it drove me nuts. This was a brand new car, glass never touched, and they did it anyway. I nearly lost my mind. I don’t use microfiber on interior glass at all - I find lint-free paper towels and streak-free window cleaner, which works perfectly. Once the microfiber crap is gone, of course. If I get another car from this seller, I will make it abundantly clear that nothing inside should be touched.

My last three years have been special order, they are Skodas and by that I mean, below VW and well below Audi but the same family.
On Piglet (the blue one) I got £5,000 knocked off a £26,000 car for ordering when I did, Skoda customer loyalty discount, deal er incentives, etc... I diidn’t kow this at the time and asked what sort of discount we’d be able to get and the saleswoman said, ‘were taking £5,000 off’, at which point I said cool and shut up.

On a brand new car we often got away with blue roll and a tiny bit of water if required.

It looks great; but; how’s it drive? Between the Fiesta and the CX-3 where does it share attributes? How’s the dsg in this car? What is this trendline trim, it looks better than the 4Motion Sportwagen s we get in the states?
I am slowly realizing that very likely, a 4Motion Sportwagen or Alltrack is in our future. I was perusing 2012ish F25 BMW X3 35i cars in about the pricerange of what I could get a 1-2 year old Sportwagen 4Motion and the BMWs are tempting for the engine but I think I would like the predictability of the newer VW and size of one of these much more. The transmission, cargo space, and interior seems like a wash depending on specs. That is; if I ever get another car...

It is a Trendline! It drives so well! It rides better than the CX-3 and is way quieter inside. Obviously rides better than the Fiesta, but not as quick.
I have not had a chance to take it on any roads I like, but will report back when I have!
The DSG is amazing as always.

I don’t touch glass in a new car unless it has been marked. It’s only new once lol. But when an idiot with a dirty microfiber messes it up, hours of work ahead for me.

You being closer to the factory might help, and I suspect a different buying culture in general. As you can imagine in the US, many dealerships have inventories of hundreds of cars, and everyone shops on price rather than spec. The market speaks, so those of us wanting something unusual have to look and get lucky, or wait 4 months or more for a special order.
I got 10K USD off my last car, due to it being in June and an unloved model. Recent car I got maybe 8.5 K, as it was earlier in the year.

Ye’, typically I’ve had to wait between four and five months for a special order.
The last one was two months, only because it was someone else's cancelled order, she isn't the colour I want, but I was looking at a six month wait for a red one.

I don’t know if I could be so patient, and I’d also have to wait for transatlantic shipping.
I think my prior car was an abandoned special order, as the spec was weird for here - blue with brown interior, and fairly heavily optioned, unusual for a NA market diesel . Current car is a bit odd too (E-class wagon without sport/AMG trim, which I don’t want anyway), but it seems to have been just a random dealer build.

I wanted metallic red, but it was going to be a six month wait, but Sandy came up, a champagne (beige silver metallic) metallic with a three week lead time after waiting for a month, so took it.
I've not bonded with it because it's not the colour I originally wanted, but settled for. :(

The colors I like always seem to be discontinued before I get a chance to make a move. Even with the wide MB color palette, the ones I like vanish and selections narrow as things become more bland and homogenized. It’s pretty bad when I prefer white to most of the greybeige color offerings, or colors that are so dark they are hard to maintain.
Prior car was a medium-darkish blue that was pretty, but not easy to maintain. Current car is metallic white, a little boring, but it suits the car (E-wagon without AMG/sport trim).
