Guy pretty much hits the nail on the head regarding all the Defender “fans” throwing their
toys out of their respective cots.

I REALLY hate that noise passing as music he uses around 7:50. He uses it all the time.

He is SOOOO off base with the wrangler, but I suspect he doesn’t understand its appeal in the US.

Around 35minute mark he really makes me think when talking about the Disco compared to a Defender.

Probably basing his view on how the Jeep is viewed in the UK and Europe, pretty sure this new Defender is going to eat into the Jeep market in Europe.

I pass a rag topless Defender every day on my way to work. We pass each other at the same intersection every day on a residential street. As a joke one day I gave him a Jeep wave. He laughed and started initiating the wave from then on.
I just can’t see how someone who’s into a driving a Defender would be into this new one. Of course I drive a Wrangler so we’re obliviously not the target market.

Watch the video,
you’ll understand. I learnt how to drive on a Series Land Rover, I’m definitely buying one of these in ‘21/22 for sure. Driving a Defender/Series is fun in theory but in practice it’s a different story. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve smacked my funny bone on sheet metal (then having to fight through the pain because I’m mid turn) while turning the steering wheel or having to open the window so I can put my arm in a normal position and not tuck it. Don’t get me wrong, I dailied a 88' 2A for a month and a half and friggin loved it, but that was a 20 mile roundtrip drive, it would physically break me if I drove it across the country.
This truck is going to be better than the old Defender off road from factory with out a doubt.
Like he says in the video, fun to visit but you can’t live there.

I think Land Rover will be able to do at the very
least 5
000 a month here, I think people who are buying $50k Rubicon's will also take a look at the Defender. Especially if Land Rover goes all in on marketing, maybe enter them into Dakar ect...

I spec’d out a Defender with lockers, M/T’s and towing package for $58k. That’s not a terrible price when you consider how much a Rubicon can go for. Raised air intake, roof rack ect... Are all going to be available as aftermarket pretty soon after the Defender is released so no need for that extra money spend.

it’ s really not a bad deal given the technology - IRS/IFS, aluminum unibody, air springs, active clutch diff, etc.

My only hope is that the change of factory has a positive effect on the reliability, Land Rover seems to be making an effort to improve in that regard which would be nice lol.

Heh, I was thinking the exact same thing. It really amazes me when I see on the Land Rover forums all these idiots waxing lyrical about how amazing their Series trucks are off road and how they’re so much better than the new “Pretender” (even though it hasn’t been released and nobody in the public has driven one yet). This last week has been nothing but a pain on all the Land Rover FB pages I moderate. Head -> Desk.
