That seems like an awful lot of money for a 2WD, 4 Cylinder, not quite matching shell and no mention of working A/C truck almost old enough to rent cars without a surcharge.

I was about to say that seems like a steal for a clean, low-ish mileage Ranger with a canopy!

My high-school girlfriend threw an absolute fit when her dad bought her this exact model because, and I quote “gold is sooooo ugly! I don't want a truck! Everyone will think I’m poor!”

With working A/C and a V6, or working A/C and 4X4, I could see asking 3k.

There’s a 2011 with a decent number of miles in *average* shape n ear going for $20k. The small truck market here is disgusting

That strikes me as pretty amazing, as that could well be as much or more than the truck sold for new in 2011 depending on configuration. In the Southwest, rangers are a dime a dozen and not particularly desirable. Then again, it seems like everything in the PNW is shockingly expensive.
In general, I’m a bit surprised by the Jalopnik/Oppo lust for rangers, a truck who’s basic platform dates to 1984, that wasn’t significantly updated after the mid-90's, yet was still for some reason was still built and sold for another 10+ years. They weren’t even the best mid-size truck of the mid 90's. I wasn’t that impressed when they were new, much less against anything they were sold against in the 00's and onward. I realize that I am probably missing something about the appeal, but if folks want them, they’re certainly out there for cheap, which is a scenario where everyone wins.

I can’t imagine it will get that much, but it will definitely get over $15k. Which is crazy seeing as I bought a new 2018 base S ilverado for about $20k...
I’d definitely take a Tacoma over one, but I still liked the Rangers. Those were the only two smaller trucks of the mid to late 90's that I’ve had much experience with though.
Maybe
I’ll fly down to Arizona one of these days to get a
cheap truck

Fact.
I went from a Datsun pickup, to a Ford Probe, to a Ninja 250, to a Mercury Sable in high school. With the exception of the bike, all the rest eventually died on me

In 2004, I bought a house that needed some (lots of) work. So my first purchase was a white 94 Ranger XL . It was an ex-municipal truck. The only option was a/c (because Florida). I bought it for less than $1, 000. Used it for 2 years put on new tires and a battery and sold it for $1,000. I couldn’t tell you how many times I had that poor truck on the bump stops with a load of dirt, gravel, mulch, concrete bags, lumber, drywall, fence panels or a rental trailer with pallets of grass.
It never skipped a beat. I miss that truck.
