After 2.5 years at an oil and gas company with a great team but an overall crappy culture and no support from the higher ups I was finally able to submit my resignation today. I got an offer from an Accounting Firm here in Nashville and took it. I’m excited to see where this goes and what the future brings.

I’m curious to learn how many accountants actually do accounting. In my 12 years thus far I haven’t booked a single journal entry - I approved them at my last job, that was the closest I ever got to it. I started off as an external auditor with A Firm, and for the most part since then have been in techni cal accounting/policy.

I would say its only like 70-80 % that ever really see numbers . The rest are support

I’m forever grateful to be part of that 20-30%. Would be depressing as hell to be booking debits and credits on a daily basis.
