Cars need to stop being so god damned angry. Unless it’s an honest to god, fire breathing sports/muscle car why does it need to look pissed off all the time? The Angry Chevy Spark is no more imposing/cool than the angry Jeep or the angry BMW/Lexus. Angry Jeep grille is the worst.

Maybe this is what these angry Jeeps look like most of the time and it’s actually just me that is the problem

So intimidating for that commute from the generic townhouse development to t he faceless corporate office campus. I mean, rugged individualist, rough and tumble outdoorsperson. Watch out for this warrior!

Some people can’t deal with the difficulties of keeping up a ‘59 D odge for DD duty. Not their fault.

That one could back it up . Glaring in the front, but with two tone paint and fins, a wild fun party everywhere else.

I honestly think of the angry-face grills as a harmless bit of fun, but I also think more Jeeps should have tail fins, radical rear lights, and two-tone paint , so...
Anyway, the preponderance of angry faces
reinforces my theory that the current era of styling
is kind of the “new” ‘50s, but with less clarity of vision.

I wonder how many owners are seeing it as fun, and how many thinks it looks tough. Around me anyway, these seem to be cosplay in vehicle form.
I think cars in general should have fins, two tone, etc. Those are fun optimistic design cues, as there was a lot of optimism and hope for the future when such cars were new. Today, maybe the lack of clarity of vision says something about society overall. But in terms of senseless clutter and sometimes overdoing it, today is indeed 1958 all over again.

I literally LOLd. What happened to that car to make it that angry and give it that underbite. Who bought that? What is it? Who restored/preserved that and how can I meet them?

That is a ‘61 Plymouth Fury. They’re pretty undervalued as a classic - also, they’re hilarious.

Just went to the dealer for an oil change yesterday and looked at the new 2020 Explorer. That thing is so hideous that I’m kind of in shock. It’s just a mess of random styling cues and entirely too much angry for what amounts to a minivan with a longer hood and hinged doors.

I saw one on the road a few weeks ago. Much more angular and aggressive than the current/prior model. It might be a reflection on society in general.
Most of the CUV/SUV segment is effectively disguised minivans butched up to look adventurous and exciting to bland suburbanites.

It’s even better that it’s not even from a really obscure manufacturer. I’ll keep it in mind if I ever want a cheap classic, interesting and yes hilarious

From what I’m seeing on autotrader and elsewhere, the costs on these *may* have exploded just within the past couple of years. Weird.
