I guess having smoke pour in to the cab was the last straw for my parents when it came to their cursed 6.0 Powerstroke Ford. I got a text from my mom with pictures of their new (to them) 2011 Ram 2500 Power Wagon with the Hemi . Pretty fancy for them given that it has nav and everything. I just hope it’s reliable.

They jumped ship from Ford to RAM, eh? I hope they got a good deal.

My father in law went from a 02 2.0, to a 2013 Ford, which was a total headache, and now has a 2019 Ram Cummins.

Seems a few Ford owners are going Ram and I’m okay with that hat.

My dad? Not likely, but that  Ford turned my dyed in the wool Ford guy dad completely against them.

My dad was a Ford guy from way back, having had a couple of Galaxies, a Gran Torino (that eventually became my first car)  and a long series of Ford trucks but this one just burned him too many times.

The hemi  is great in a half ton. I've never driven it in a .75 ton.

My father in law had great luck with his 6.0s both an Excursion and his F-350. In fact we still have the f-350, it’s kinda of a shared custody arrangement between his kids lol. The only problems he’s had with them was that started falling of the Excursion a few times. And injector problems caused by 15,000+ mile oil  changes. He’s not great at keeping up on maintenance.

But his 2013 Ford F-350 was nothing but problems. Most of those problems involved truck going into limp mode because of the DEF system. It even left him stranded in the middle of winter. He ended up having to sleep in the truck in below zero weather. That was the last straw. Our local dealership sell both ford and Ram and we’re more than happy to take in his Ford for a new Ram. He’s only had the Ram for maybe 6 months now but he loves it. Mainly because it rides smoother than the Ford and is a lot more powerful. 980lb ft of torque!

I think the ride of the Ram won over my mom. She hated how the Ford rode on long trips. She even started using a cushion to sit on.

Yeah even when I was selling cars in 2013 the Rams I did sell (1/5 of the Fords I sold) were purchased mainly because they ride nicer.

Plus going from any 90s truck to a 2011 is like going from a model T, to a  60s land yacht. One was built for a job the other was built to do that job comfortably.

I know .75 means 3/4 but I’ve never seen anyone write it like that. Lol

Also funny that we call a 2500 a three quarter ton. Like what?

What's surprising is that they went with the offroad biased Power Wagon so it doesn't ride as smoothly as  it could. Still probably better than their Ford, though.

Unless he regularly tows very heavy loads the Hemi is more than enough. A friend of mine has a 2500 Hemi that he pulls a 35ft camper with regularly and loves it.

That’s pretty much what he decided. He has a camp trailer but it’s not a huge fif th whe el or anything  and they only use it 6-10 times a year . He got the diesel because he thought it would handle pulling the trailer up the mountains better but the Hemi should be good enough and it will be a lot less of a headache day-to-day.
