Egad — now we know he lives in Everett! Still...
Drove down for the Portland Oppo meet (day 2 only for me), stayed overnight at a generous Oppo’s dwelling. I think it came out to 660-something miles overall, although I got about 24 miles per gallon overall (WOW!).
I also didn’t grab a photo of the actual vehicles that came for the meet... I tried to take some snaps whilst driving, didn’t work so great.
So here’s some photos of my attempts, but mostly of stuff I saw in Portland and on the way home.
Zoid-boner
1 lifted boi
Wow, that’s a nice suburban and or Tahoe.
When was the last time you saw an old Isuzu, let alone a diesel? This guy has FOUR.
Duh!
ANOTHER diesel Isuzu!
Nice Camry
GTFour Celica
Pictured: most of the participants in potato format. Not captured: a purple Chrysler Sebring convertible
Also I was either the slowest or second-slowest vehicle of the group... Not entirely fair when you account for a little hot hatch that weighs significantly less than my car, a Honda bike boi, a twin-turbo 1JZ, an AWD T5 Volvo, annnnnd yeah I guess there was a C63 507 coupe or whatever... Oh who am I kidding, my car is just slow

You kept up just fine...just needed a heavier right foot! Next time I'll be driving something a bit more brash.

Somehow I thought this was next weekend. I even scheduled an oil change for tomorrow in preparation. My work is frying my mind.
I should have gone, if only to throw you a bone by being another slow car in the group.
Looks like a sweet trip, for which I could have missed the 1st B-day for my wife’s best friend’s baby, which we almost missed anyway because her friend changed the party time and failed to let my wife know (so we were there like 2 hours late).

The worst part about parties for 1 year old is that they’re 1 year olds and have no conception of what the hell is going on or what a birthday and party are.

I want to go to one of these, flying up my mother in law next year so I can. I feel like this with my children sometimes.

That’s the real issue, right there. It’s hard enough to maintain friendships in the PNW.

The kids these days are going to have so many pictures and videos of their childhoods that we never had. I shot a video of the very dainty “cake smash” that she did. S he was so gentle with it, nothing like the pictures I’ve seen . My baby showed the 1-year-old how to push chairs and tables around, so they were working together pushing them around (and my little guy totally overpowered her when she tried to push the opposite direction, even though she can walk, is 3 months older, and has like 2-3” on him).

Yeah, I feel that. We moved up here five years ago and are pretty introverted, so it doesn’t make it any easier. I’m truly looking forward to one next year.

Homes that old aren't usually cheap on upkeep.

You kept up great! Got the jump on me a few times when we were passing. I’m still figuring out where in the rev band the engine likes to be, been a while since I’ve driven a 90's (read: laggy) turbo set up.
