My local dealership got its first batch in today. Naturally, I had to go and snoop around to see what’s what.
Have you ever fallen in love at first sight? I learned what that’s like today.
Although everyone may joke that it looks the same as every modern 911, it looks stunning in person. I was always a huge fan of the 991, but this is clearly a step above.
They had a mix of Carrera S and Carrera 4S since the base Carrera won’t arrive for another month or two.
Lizard Green looks delicious in person
I already went ahead and ordered a model one since I know it’ll be a little while before I can have one of my own.
All five of these sold within an hour of them arriving, so I can’t go for any of them. I’m definitely looking forward to what the future has in store for the 992.

Not to diminish its magnificence but the front grille looks decidedly 2012 B eetle.
And the wheels have been too large the last few generations which makes the cars proportions look off.(though that's not -just- porsche)

Saw these in person and that line where the hood meets the bumper is really rough. It’s constant across the 991 but it is oddly broken by the headlights now. Also the aero kit for the new front bumper improves lots of things. The interior is spectacular except for the shifter. Everything else is awesome.

agree - I do like the new one better than outgoing. The nose, the butt, profile and interior all look better to me. I am on the fence regarding the new rear wingy thingy and the wheels still look an inch or two too big ... but I could probably overlook those two issues if I had one...

They added more black plastic to the front back... Between this and all current Audis, I feel like VAGCOM has been looking at LexYota and saying, "YES, that's what we need."

God, I love the interior so much. It’s extremely beautiful in a German way.

The beetle is actually a great example of putting big wheels on to hide a rising belt line. The Beetle had 18” wheels and 235/45 tires. That’s a lot of wheel/tire compared to its platform-mate the golf/gti.

I just checked the configurator for Canada... looks like the 7MT is not orderable, only the PDK.

Your right, but I’m not convinced with 19-20's on things such as the 911, all the newer performance suv’s look preposterous with however large wheels too.

I love the 911.
I wish they’d quit messing around and flip the engine and transmission and fit the front and rear with double wishbone stuff.

Saw it at the LA Auto Show. It’s stunning. Hopefully I’ll get to actually sit in it this time.

Is it just me or does it look more 997 than 991 from the front?

It seems like the SportDesign front should just be the actual, stock front end. Not sure how I feel about the SportDesign rear since I prefer the stock look with the license plate between the dual exhausts and the paint trim which encircles that area.
I think my ideal one would come in blue (either their Miami Blue or either of their two metallic options on the Canadian configurator) with the SportDesign front. While I’m fine with auto, I think I’d want a 7 speed MT just so I could say that I have a 7-speed manual.
It’s a slick car, though. I loved that they continued with the vertical slats on the rear grille from the 991 since I think they look so cool.

911s started looking real busy in the front with the 996. Subsequent front grilles have been variations of “as many weird shapes as we can think of.”
This is a nice return to cleaner lines.

I was just going to say that. The first thing that popped in my head, it really looks like a bug. Lets see the Turbo!
