Some are better quality than others. I spent most of the day taking pictures with their company camera so my personal pics are light.
Toyota F135 engine. Part of a 100% accurate restoration from Proffitts Cruisers. (well not 100%, 2 bolts and a tie rod boot aren’t right, yet). This is what you would get from the factory, but probably a touch nicer in terms of quality of finish. even the hose clamps are Toyota parts
I wish I had take a picture of the whole truck with my phone, it was stunning.
Bunch of 80 series ads, some of them are very weird, like the one where the sinister looking camel wants me to sit on a stick shifter. The 90's was a different time in terms of conspicuous consumption wasn’t it.
There was a beautiful single cab long be narrow body 70 series.
Plus one of my favorites, this Maltec Troopie. It started life as a 91-94 HDJ81 LHD cruiser, the body is stripped, the drivetrain rebuilt and a brand new 70 series interior and body are fitted. As the chassis is a legit import, you can legally drive what would b e a brand new turbodiesel 5 speed manual 70 series troopie...only one that is way better because its got coils all around and the same width front axle as the back. I’ve written about this truck before. It’s wonderful in all the best ways, especially kitted out as a camper. Im convinced its the best single or couple camp truck you can buy at any price. relatively light. relatively powerful. economical, comfortable, capable and cool.
This was my favorite, sorry the pic sucks. Its another Maltec, but on a 76 chassis. just such a cool truck. brand new interior and body, all the best parts of the 80 series and just such a classy shape. plus factory electric winch and snorkel. chassis looks brand new as does the engine, 5 speed hf151 and full time HF2AV transfer case. You could drive this thing the rest of your life. indirect injected mechanical turbo diesel, manual transmission, and only enough electronics to be comfortable and never stop you from driving.

FJ-60 series, especially in two tone, always grabs my attention. Just can’t get interested in any of the SUV bodies after that generation.

Interesting themes on the Monument Valley ad. I’d like to see a TV ad made from it. Lead with that picture , screen fades to black as “This is the Prophecy” appears in big white letters on the screen. Cut to a LC ripping through the desert with Soulfy playing in the background.

Thank you for these photos. I really enjoyed the product timeline poster. I am fascinated with Toyota’s off road products. I can pinpoint where this truck lust started. I was in Central America in the early mid 2000s and was in the jungle with someone from the Costa Rican ministry of agriculture with a 4 door Hilux. I had never been in one before and was stunned that such a vehicle was not readily sold in the United States. He gave up trying to talk to me that afternoon about Ag and instead let me drive and ask him questions about his truck.
Thanks again
