After 5 years of relative security, my Jeep was violated for the !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! . This time in a wide open parking lot in bright daylight with plenty of cameras, so if I really want to I’m sure I can get a look at the crackhead (yes, I’m projecting, but it’s a not-unreasonable assumption).
Bunch of change (probably >$10), the cupholder insert the coins were in, a pocket tool, and my gym bag. None of it consequential, all of it annoying.
I’m going to start limiting even further the stuff I carry with me regularly, but !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! (and given how frequently the Jeep suffers from mechanical difficulties and how far into the boondocks I travel to enjoy the snow , emergencies in the winter can be genuine emergencies). I probably should install the hard top in the winter, but what an incredible pain in the ass that is.

Did they break a window or reach in?
A buddy lived in Boston and would leave his Barebones Jeep unlocked and twice asses slashed a rear window.

No doors or windows this time, so they just leaned in.

I always kept gear in a locking toolbox in the back of my truck. There must be something similar for your jeep, right?

There are a few such options , but the one I have is fairly small. Big enough for the truly expensive things I often carry, but not for all of the random stuff I keep during the winter (or even the summer).

Along realbycyclebuck, anyway to mount a toolbox, drill, and run bolts though. The trunk floor to secure?

Every option has some significant downsides, primarily due to the difficulty of getting access to the back with the soft top installed . Up until now it hasn’t been worth the trouble, and I’m still not sure it is now.

The only time I had stuff stolen out of my car they took my iPod, an electric guitar and my subwoofers. I never confirmed this but I’m 99% it was the guy that sold me the subwoofers. I had a feeling they might be stolen when I bought them.
Lesson learned. Never buy anything you suspect might be hot.

When I was still married, we bought a 70s Lincoln Continental from a guy a few miles away, and made the rookie mistake of using a check to pay him.
A few days later, someone broke in (without breaking in) and took something from behind the dash.
Overall, mixed blessings: we were grateful that whatever he had forgotten wasn’t there to get us in trouble later.

The inside of my Crown Victoria looks like there’s nothing worth stealing. Hell, the cardboard center console I made, makes it look pitiful. :P

That sucks man....we had our van broken into years ago when on vacation in NYC once, but that’s been it for anybody in my family for break-ins to vehicles!

Eh, I keep nothing of value in the Accent unless they want those re-usable grocery bags.....then again, one of them IS insulated...
