This post from one of the founders of NW Rally Association sums it up pretty well:

I can’t describe what an amazing weekend it was. My Neon not only survived, but it performed amazingly well. I ended up in second for stock FWD. Winners were determined for total time over 12 runs spanning 2 days and 1 night, so had I driven a little cleaner, victory could have been mine!
Jumping a stock Neon on end-of-life struts is an experience. Landing is HARD and luckily I kept my foot in it because those who lifted were punished by “lawn darting.” :

Here are my other favorite photos of me in my Neon from the event:

That looks awesome! Are you going to be running the Neon again next year?

Yeah, trying to budget out a few upgrades. I want to try RWD or AWD obviously, but my Neon is competitive and I still have plenty of room for improving my driving skills before then.
The next class up, Prepared FWD, is a ghost town with only 1 or 2 drivers at each event, so I might go in
to Mod FWD even if I don’t have to. I’m talking with some of the other drivers to see their plans for next season too.

I’m incredibly fortunate. The people who run these events are so good at it. The level of safety and smoothness of the races is unmatched, and yet everyone there is warm, welcoming, and laid back.

I’m hoping to be back next year. I need a dedicated rig though, its a terrible idea to use my daily driver. Most likely still rwd though. I’m thinking of a Nissan 350Z if I could find a cheap beater.

Where did you end up finishing over the season?

I’m in a very close 1st for the season right now, but it could go either way at the final event in O
ctober.

Yep, any thoughts about using my daily driver vanished as soon as I landed the jump on the first run.
350Z would be great, and some of them have gotten really cheap.

Where do you find these events, and do you need a rollcage or racing seat/ harness?

The events near me are at https://www.nwrallyassociation.com/
They have a good FAQ on their site. No rollcage or harness required, but the courses here are a little beyond what you'll see at an SCCA rallycross. So, almost any car will work, but it will be rough on it.
