and be ashamed of what you have done to that Jeep
The tires are almost completely beyond the body of the car. I thought this looked pretty stupid (not to mention illegal) It also sounded like an old Honda Civic with a fart can. I wish I could have gotten right beh ind it, the photo doesn’ t really do justice to how far the tires stick out

I once saw a mall-crawler’d GC for sale - bash plate, 6" lift, mud terrains, whole 9 yards. Only problem? It was a 2WD jeep.....Not even AWD, just 2WD.
THey wanted something north of 45k for a used, 2WD GC.

Unfortunately 4WD vehicles are exempt:
Notwithstanding the provisions of this section, no passenger motor vehicle shall be operated on any way if such vehicle has the side wall or thread of any tire projecting outward beyond the outer portion of the fender or side body panel, unless such vehicle is equipped with four-wheel drive or is otherwise modified and intended for off-the-way use.
Possibly it is lifted too much, but I’m too lazy to do the calculations:
(1) The maximum mechanical lift for four wheel drive motor vehicles shall be calculated by multiplying the wheel base times the wheel track, and dividing the product by a safety factor of 2200: i.e., 92" w/b x 58" w/t = 5336/2200 = 2" (maximum mechanical lift). The outside diameter of the largest tire size available from the original manufacturer as standard or optional equipment for the particular motor vehicle may also be increased up to an amount equal to maximum mechanical lift calculated.
(2) The maximum combined mechanical and tire lift shall be no greater than
the sum
of
the maximum
mechanical lift and increased tire size calculated for the particular vehicle.
However, it looks like they could still definitely be ticketed for this:
Every passenger motor vehicle which is equipped with tires which extend beyond the fenders or body of such vehicle and which is operated in or upon any way shall be equipped with flaps or suitable guards to reduce such spray or splash to the rear and sides.

Except for the “body” part.

I think it’s the last part that matters most. Tires can’t extend beyond the bodywork, be that actual body panels, or fender flares, mudflaps, whatever.
