Yanked the dash the other day. Went pretty smooth. A few hidden fasteners, some surprise wiring, but pretty smooth nonetheless.
AFTER
BEFORE
The main reason for pulling the dash, bedsides selling off parts I don’t need, is to save the parts I DO need. Namely the HVAC ducts. I have a heater & A/C box out of another car that I bought many years ago, and a dash (both things my roller project came without) but was lacking all the little bits to put it all in someday, and half of the ducting that’s always broken or missing on these cars.
This way I have the know-how. And the bits and pieces.
While I was crawling around carefully in there I also pulled the package tray and rear speakers, which were VERY original.
Oh and that radio that I need to do some testing on. It powered on in the car, but would only pop and crackle through the speakers. If I am going to try and get a couple bucks for it I have to make sure it works.
Everything is SO 70'S in this car it’s hilariously nostalgic, even though I wasn’t alive back then.
10 Oppo Points to whoever remembers what those are for ^

I’ve got my old speaker from my ‘79 TA around the house somewhere. I pulled it out and put some Jensen 6x9" Triax speakers in back in the day. I left them in the car (what else could I do?, they were sunbaked and in need of replacement) when I sold it, but I did take my Alpine cassette deck out and put the original radio back in. Just a thought, you may want to hang onto the radio knobs. They match the Firebird interior controls. The next guy who gets the radio may have a completely different car and not even need them, while you conceivably could. But I’m a hoarder and can’t seem to get rid of anything I might ever even remotely think I’ll need in the future.
I vaguely remember seeing those stick-on holder things in cars back then. Was it for a service reminder card? I didn’t get my car serviced at the dealer, so I never had one stuck on my car anywhere. I have another guess about what it is, but I’ll let someone else have a chance if I’m wrong.

I think you’re right about the reminder card. I’ve always seen the holders, but never the cards in use.
My first Esprit only had the 3x10 in the dash and dumb 16yo me cut open the rear deck to put 6x9's in.
My T/A only had the 3x10 in its shell (the rest of the shell was stripped down for paint) and it came apart when I removed it, I have yet to take the one out of this Esprit to see what shape its in.
My T/A is getting the pro-touring treatment so not much stock stuff is needed in the interior. I hadn’t even put much thought into a radio though.

Its been good for me, having one fully disassembled and once-modified car, and one nearly 100% original and complete. I just hope I remember it all or take good enough pics when it comes time to put the Trans Am back together.
