"mazda616" (mazda616)

The dealership is closed for Labor Day. That’s fine and all, but a bit surprising. I thought they’d have some giant holiday sale going, or something.
We are approaching year seven and 70,000 miles with our CX-5. It’s still a great car, but we are starting to get curious about upgrading to a CX-9. No definite plans, but I do want to test drive one and see how my wife likes it.

We had one for a rental a couple of months ago. My wife loved it, although she felt the nose was a little long. I dare say the interior she preferred over her Grand Cherokee. It was a peppy, comfortable drive.

Whenever you do let me know how you like it. I have been looking into getting one.

Every time I sit in one, I feel special.

I am very surprised theyre closed. My Lexus dealership is open, lots of cars get sold over labor day weekend. Saturday was a circus up in here.

The “I’m trading up without paying up” way, not the short bus way.

We went from the 5 to the 9. No Ragrets, not even one. Picked it up in the GT trim if you have any questions, let me know.

The main things my wife is worried about are (lack of) cargo space and usability of the third row, even though it’ll be sparingly occupied at most.

They should be closed. Good for them. One of my local Mazda dealers are closed today and the rest are open. I'll be going back to the one that is closed bc I'm glad that they value their employees enough to give them holidays.

I agree, but if they were open, I was going to go. Haha.

We have a cx-9. Those are legit concerns. If they are proper issues, then a minivan is the way to go. Odyssey in particular. As far as rear seat usability, a n adult can use the third row s eat reasonably for a 1-2 hour trip. A kid can use it indefinitely. The second row is indistinguishable from the front row from a comfort standpoint. Cargo room with the third row down is plentiful and we ll more than the cx-5. Subaru As cent is the only competition IMO, and it was at least 10K more similarly equipped to a one year old cx-9. From a driver's perspective the cx-9 is excellent. Great pep, solid handling and a good transmission.

Honestly, she predicts us needing more room than we actually do. We have one child (a two-year-old) and will probably have another within the next 1.5 to 2 years. That’s it, though. Her best friend rides with us a lot and she has one child, a six-year-old. He could easily ride in the third row.

I bought a CX9 GT last weekend and did some road trips with family.
Third row has only 2 seats but they’re comfortable. I’m 6 feet tall, 200+lbs and could fit in the third row with another similar sized relative, no complaints for the 2+ hours I spent there, other than lack of dedicated AC vents for the third row. This is because the middle row can move, they can allocate couple of extra inches for the third row and still have some space for themselves.

I’ve been driving the touring model for about six months. I love the car. No regrets.
I only wish it got better gas mileage.
I also use it part time doing rideshare. Passengers requesting an SUV are often surprised that there is a third row when I pull up.
No complaints whatsoever about the room back there. Of course, it’s not exactly ideal for a 4 hour road trip, but I’ve gone across town, in rush hour, for longer than normal drives, carrying 6 plus myself , and it delivers a smooth and comfortable ride for all.
Full of the sound of the Gran Fury, signifying nothing.

I sat in the new one whilst my 5 was in for an oil change. Not surprisingly, like most SUVs, I found the amount of space inside to be much smaller than the exterior would lead you to believe. My little 5 seemed gigantic and spacious inside by comparison.

My CX5 is approaching 85k miles. Just did rear wheel bearings and I have a suspension squeak I need to investigate.

Ours has an occasional suspension squeak, too.
And, the A/C was blowing air on my feet when I had it set to blow out of the dash vents the other day. But once I turned it to feet and back to the dash vents, it corrected. I’m guessing there’s a blend door or an actuator going out.

Nice of them to give their employees the day off.
Looking forward to your review of the CX-9 (we had an ‘08 for 200k miles).

I agree. I was surprised to see them closed, but as someone who used to work in sales and had to work every damn holiday, I respected it!

I’ve been in the back row for a few hours as the only one in the back row I was able to get comfortable and take some naps even. I’m 6'1 for reference.
