Last night, in the Bahamas, there were wind gusts of 200 mph and waves surging to 20 ft. - lots of damage. Dorian is now headed up the east coast of Florida.
It has been a roller coaster ride here in north-central Florida. Early models predicted a direct hit on the Daytona Beach area . A few days ago, however, the model showed the storm heading farther to the east; and the winds were predicted to be only 30 mph. Now, the model shows the storm moving slowly and hugging the east coast. T he winds are predicted to be about 40 mph here , but they are supposed to last for 24 hours, which could be an issue .
Southern Florida may still get hit hard with high winds and waves . Stay safe down there.
