I looked at fancy motorcycles. I should not do this. That red 959 made me feel funny.
I also stopped by the auto parts store, and saw a Mustang in its natural habitat.

I’m in the process of detailing the M iata for the last time. It’s been awhile, and I’d forgotten how well the paint takes to some wax.
You should get a Ducati.

Hope you have a solid day off. Still working, and I work tomorrow too (I've had 0 long weekends off since I started) and the things I'm dealing with tend to be more dumb than not.

The newer Ducs are so much better when it comes to maintenance schedules that I’ve been temped recently.
The only issue is the extreme heat coming out from under their superbikes, it’s something that really takes away from using one as your main bike because it’s only comfortable at 70 mph or higher.
Most of the Japanese bikes and the BMW S1000RR have the performance but more easier to live with. Though nothing looks and feels like a Ducati.

It was very relaxing, used the 4Runner for some bush clearing to get to a private range, and then shot a couple hundred rounds out of various boom sticks. Then I took Scout for a long ride. Unproductive, but it’s a good start for my week long mostly staycation.

G oofball Mustang owner... they are just asking to get keyed. Ducatis sound so cool... My brother in law had a monster before they had kids, (not sure which one...) One of our local malls has a dealer and they put all the bikes out on the sidewalk out front when it’s nice for folks to drool on... https://www.ducatiredmond.com/

Ugh, I have my motorcycle license but have to wait for a good while to get a bike. Cause you know, broke college student.

Did you check the front grill of the Mustang? Could have been a motorcycle in there! #jokesaboutmustangowners
I got the Exocet mostly prepped for Sierra Range Rally . Diff bushings make a huge difference. No more wiggle in the shifter when I put the hammer down. New shift bushings are also in and the uprated pads/rotors should do nicely. I went for Brembo blanks and for blanks, they are sexy.
On the topic of bikes - do you find what you have is too slow? That 959 is really a race bike for the street. I can’t imagine it’s comfortable for the longer rides you sometimes do. Then again, I know didley squat about bikes outside of being licensed . I can draw figure 8's with one and probably not die.

Not much going on today here. We’re celebrating my son’s birthday this weekend, so it’s a lazy day filled with games and cheesy movies. We just watched Big Trouble in Little China. His choice, I swear! Oh, Rocky did get a new toy. He ripped its guts out.

H ow many pedestrians were trapped underneath? I’m guessing 2 or 3?

I know the Monster isn’t a super bike (plus no fairings, I know) , but my 1200 Monster is cooler sitting in traffic than my Africa Twin. Except on my right knee, but that’s not intolerable unless it’s over 90F outside and you’re sitting still for more than a minute or two. If you’re moving at all it’s perfectly comfortable.

If you don't want a Ducati, definitely don't test ride one.

Set up plans to look at a motorcycle tomorrow and got my pup some shots. His mom was there hanging out so he got some cuddles. Also drank tequila and ate enchiladas at a friend’s baby shower. Bad pic of mama dog trying to sniff her pup.

Absolutely, the monster would be my choice by I don’t like naked bikes, the SV650S with it’s partial fairing is as naked as I would like.
I would consider the Ducati Supersport which I hear is a great bike, but for that kind of money, I might as well get the Panigale. Which then leads to my heat issue.
Even in California, with legal lane splitting, you will still have to stop occasionally, and the heat soak generated doesn’t go away on those superbikes.

The supersport is a faired monster though. More or less. And at least a few grand cheaper than a panigale, not to mention the less aggressive riding position. It's a great bike to ride, if just a bit low on power.

Absolutely, the Supersport is probably the best fit for most riders.
But there is only a $2700 difference betwe en the SS & 959 based models , which is close enough when the price is $15,000 or so.
I rather buy a used bike anyways, you can keep it for years and sell it for practically the same price you paid for it.

I didn’t realize they’re that close in price.
I’m a fan of having a warranty and have no intentions of getting rid of the Monster. It's too damn good.

Nah, bikes are cheap to fix generally :)
Well, except for Ducatis. But I do have a great independent shop that does my non-DIY services, such as valve checks/adjustments, tire changes, sprockets/chains, etc.

Generally. But not always. I’m perfectly capable of doing it all myself and making it even cheaper . But I don’t want to. I spend 50 hours each week fixing things. A) I don't want to do it myself. B) parts can get very expensive very quickly if major things start going bad. And as much as I ride, there's a good chance I'll make good use of warranty (recent piston and cylinder replacement for example). And if not, then the peace of mind is worth it for me.
