I don’t know how many of you are familiar with Martyn Joseph, but he’s one of favorite folk-ish singers , and hails from Wales. His songs are usually dark and brooding if you really listen to them, provided you tune out the more upbeat guitar playing that accompanies his songs. This song, Being There , is one of my favorite, and has been ever since I first heard it back in ‘92.
I hadn’t heard about him in years, but for some reason this song popped into my head today . The lyrics in this song seem more appropriate for today than they did back in 1992 and I wanted to verify that I heard them correctly so I started doing a search. At first I couldn’t remember his name so I typed in several lines from this song, but surprisingly nothing came up. After a few minutes I remembered his name and continued my search. I did find this version of this song, but it’s not the one I remember from decades past; don’t get me wrong - it’s still a fantastic song. YouTubes automatic captioning was amusing, yes, but not exactly accurate. I searched various lyrics sites, but so far none of them have this song.
Bonus tune from that 1992 Sony release:
