Because my son has to be to school by 4:15. One of the local TV stations features a different high school on their early morning news program, and they’re doing his school today. He’s in the band. They go live at 5 am. I plan to come home and go back to bed.
This sucks.

10:14 AM here. I start at 7. So far mostly ploughing through invoice approvals for the past fortnights worth of orders and doing some compliance paperwork. Also chasing suppliers who have a differing idea of what the term ‘tomorrow’ means.
Dealt with a couple of walk-in customers- with the 3 day weekend I’m expecting some more.
We’re just wrapping up a large unusual project, so there’s a little bit of tidying up of loose ends to do on that. Now it’s back to the bread and butter work (which the workshop guys will be happy about) with another big job due in in a couple of weeks.

4:15 here. I’m about to hop in the van to drive 3 hours out to the eastern plains of Colorado for a delivery. 2 of my 3 hours will be spent driving directly into the sunrise. Whee.

No, it’s not that bad. I came home and went to bed for two more hours. Haven’t been sleeping well in general lately, though.

I don’t think it’s a stress issue. Not sure what’s going on.

Back in my head lifeguard days, I sometimes had the open up the place for the masters (competitive, old people) lap swim group that started at 5:00AM. I had to be there at around 4:30ish to take a full water test and turn on the HID lights t o let them warm up enough for the place to be lit by time people got there to swim. Getting there at 5:15ish to open for the regular early bird lap swim several days a week never bothered me at all (I’m a morning person), but getting there at 4:30 was butt crack of dawn. It always sucked.

Less interesting than that. Very much land based on the border.

I spent a summer working at a country club. My job was to prepare the fake clay courts every morning so the rich old ladies could come play tennis. I think my day started at 5:00, I don’t really remember. It was a thankless job, but the best part was being done with work by 2 or 3 o’clock.
For me, I like being up early, I just hate getting up early.
