Now that we’ve scared everyone else away, how’s it going, Canadians? Hope you’re all well. Just wanted to give you guys a heads up that there’s a federal election in two months (probably October 21st, but they haven’t solidified the date yet). With that, make sure to swing by the !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! to make sure you’re registered to vote! A lot of recent elections out east have been super close, so your vote does matter in how this country moves forward! I’ve moved four times since the last election, so I made sure my voter information was up to date, and you should, too! As well, once candidates start running in your area, be sure to check out the platforms in order to make an informed choice. The right to vote is guaranteed to you, so be sure to execute it

Haha when it comes to mail, anything I receive that says “urgent - open immediately” gets shitcanned, and online whenever I see “do not open” I click that link to find out what I’m not supposed to know.

But yeah please vote as long as it’s not for yet another wack job populist with bad hair  like everyone else.

This election makes me shake my head. I’ve volunteered with a certain party in the past, but meh. I really think I am voting for a massively different party this time around.

My local MP died of cancer a few weeks ago, he was a good guy. The party leader I had previously voted for is gone.

I feel pretty lost politically these days, like no label applies to me.

I’m not happy who I voted for because what I wanted either lead to rushed policy or didn’t happen. I refuse to vote for parties based on “I’m X so I have to vote X” or in order to get people out.

I wish our ballots had a “none of the above” option so we had to have a new election with different heads of parties if enough people voted for it.

It’s better if you don’t have a label. A big part of the problem in the US is that everyone wants to label themselves and everyone else to pidgeonhole them.

Just because you agree with some things a party champions doesn’t mean you should agree with everything they stand for. People in the US seem to have forgotten that.

It’d be a little funny though. Majority of Canadians don’t like a leader? He gets voted out. Majority of Americans don’t like a leader? No one votes, the worst option wins.

I’ll come clean. I am a previous Conservative including a volunteer for the campaign. I met Harper the day before he lost when he came to Abbotsford, BC

But...I will be voting Green this time.  I really personally think that climate change will be the defining challenge of our time and the more attention that gets, the better.

My parents met working opposite sides of the 73 election. One Trudeau liberal and one Tomm y D ouglas  fan.  They never changed their stripes either.  I think Sask will go wall to wall blue this time. (pretty close as it is)

They always send me a voter information thing, for both federal and provincial elections,  even though I’m not Canadian yet. I don’t think I will be come election time either so I’ll keep my inevitable discontent to myself and vote when I am (legally) able to.

I have spoiled my ballot before - just mark an X in every box/circle. I believe it’s important to get out and vote, even if you vote for nobody.

I’ve always encouraged fence-sitters to get out and get in the habit of voting, even if they can’t decide for whom to vote. One day they’ll be able to make a decision, and it’ll feel natural to get out and vote. Maybe they’ll even get involved in politics and make a difference - who knows?
