My local cars and coffee moved from 30 minutes away from my house to 4 minutes away from my house. However, I drive by it and look on every Saturday morning to do something even cooler. Saturday mornings I take my little girl to swim class! It’s our thing, we have been going since she was six months old. I just keep signing her up for the next class.
There is a 3 week gap in between the class that ended last Saturday and the start of the next level class. So this Saturday I’m going to take the 02 and one of the puppers pictured below down to cars and coffee!
The boxer is better behaved but he gets super nervous around crowds. The Mastiff is massive and clumsy but she is very sweet and is not fazed by anything except scritchies and ice cubes. (She really likes both). So it will most likely be my big girl “Jules”.
Anyway, if you’re an Oppo in southeastern PA and want to look at cars on Saturday morning . I will be at the CnC at the Wegman’s in Malvern. It’s a small / m edium sized CnC, well run and pretty tame. A ton of exotics because there is a lot of money in the general vicinity, but there are a lot of unique cars too. Just in my little neighborhood there is a MINT VW type 2, a P ackard, a 70's cop car, a super lifted XJ, an i8, a and some guy who has built his own “T-Rex” trike type of thing. I know they all attend most weekends.
When I first got the 02, gigantic XJ guy came b y to ask about it. He asked if I had seen how many cool cars were in our tiny neighborhood. We both agreed that it’s pretty odd. There is also a Murano CrossCabriolet, but she doesn’t go to CnC.

That Wegmans is within walking distance of the Pinball Gallery, and that place is awesome. This is awfully tempting, especially if a dog is involved.

You pay a flat rate and all* of the games are set to free play. It's the best place to play pinball in the greater Philadelphia area.
*there are always 3-5 newer games that you have to pay to play, but those games are collecting money for charity.

I need to get my boy in swim class. He’s terrified of swimming. And I’m not good enough to feel comfortable teaching him.

I don’t know how old your little guy is, but it’s really just getting them comfortable in the water . My daughter is just 1, so she’s not actually swimming or anything. She is learning to hold her breath, blow bubbles, and climb out of the pool on her own. Ya know like all stuff for really little kids, you sing a few songs, play with some toys, and you’re out.

That sounds great. I’m dealing with a 10 year old who breaks into tears when he can’t touch.
Like full on panic attack.

What does a swim class constitute for a six month old? Not trolling, genuinely curious since my wife and I have debated when to start swim classes for our kiddo, who is now 11mos.
She absolutely loves the water already, which is great, and we were planning on starting actual swim classes next summer when she’s about 20ish months. When we go to the pool she kicks around like a squid, it’s hilarious.

Just getting comfortable in the water. It’s 35 minutes, sing a couple songs, splash the water. Practice paddling and kicking while mom or dad holds you. After each activity the teacher has the kids climb out and then “jump” in. It’s super casual though, if your kid freaks out or isn’t into one or the other activities the pool is big enough to take a break from the action. I honestly would like it to be a little more formal. I have spent extra time after each class working with her to climb out of the pool on her own. Since she can’t actually swim yet, I want her to at least be able to get out if she falls into water.
If she loves the water already, she’ll have a blast. We go to our local YMCA and its cheap. I think the class is $28 for 2 months, haha.
Once shes talking and all that I’m planning to enroll her in a more intensive class. I want to get her in the ocean as soon as she is ready. I have this vision of her and I shredding little breakers on one of those huge foam longboards.

Oh there are plenty of kids like that. The YMCA where we go has a huge ramp to get into the kids pool. Kids with a fear of deep water can ease their way in

Thanks! I might need to check with the local Y to see if they have them if not for any other reason than to keep her acclimated to the water since the pool we belong to closes at the end of September.
Climbing out is great advice - I think we’ll work on that some this weekend.

Honestly the Y is fuckin’ awesome when you have kids , I had no idea. Ours has included childcare, so we can drop off the munchkin while we workout. There’s multiple pools/a mini waterpark setup.
