Here’s the fun thing: I’m not a conservative, a Trump supporter, a republican, or anything else I was called. All I did was make a point that keeping Obama era emissions regulations and removing California’s exemption was probably a good thing. Apparently, that makes me a Nazi. Also, top points to the person who identified themselves as a gender queer and then promptly assumed my gender as being a CIS gendered white male.
I really kept Jalopnik in business today. More than 125 direct comments to my comments and even more branching paths off of that. You’re welcome. Apparently my lone comment is the Porsche Cayenne of comments.

Your first mistake was commenting on Jalopnik in the first place. Your second was commenting in a manner that antagonized the bot- swarm. Your final mistake was to keep on going regardless.
The lesson for us all...if you must read Jalopnik in this day and age...say nothing.

Or asking others to check out scams or any one of the other things unrelated to Oppo. We've had our arguments, but I dig reading your comments. Same thing with Nick. If an Oppo raises a comment from fp I'll check it out. I don't read fp, I hate most people on there. I like you, I like Nick. I'll typically see your viewpoints before I see some schmucks from fp.

Eh, your initial comment came across as biased , lacked sources for incorrectly stated facts and was politically charged to begin with. You could have seen this coming.
Not justifying the grey/pending reactions, just sayin’. And luckily most of those reactions stay grey and pending anyway.

I have not been on commenting on Jalopnik (or Oppositelock) for very long, but lately it seems that some topics attract scorn. Of course, since the nation is so politically divided , anything hinting of Trump brings out the worst in people. Interestingly, topics like Tesla, Elon Musk, public transportation, and even iPhones tend to elicit hostility.
Now that I have used all of the mag ic words, it will be interesting to see if this comment attracts bots.

FP commenting can be very similar to commenting on a YouTube video. If you decide to do either one, you have to prepare yourself for anything or simply ignore the replies.

Why do you believe that the exemption is bad?
As far as I can tell, it lets most square states have minimal emissions regulations.

I’ll go ahead and agree with you on your point. I think it’s worthless to have multiple emissions regulations in this country, just adding complexity if OEM’s make different emissions for each area, or they are just going to build to the most stringent one anyways. Why not just have 1 and be done with it?

Th e exemption is bad if it complicates the refining market and creates wild fuel price disruptions when one of the few refineries making the exception fuel shuts down.
If every state made California-formula fuel, then the fuel market would be much more resistant to price shocks.

Honestly, commenting anywhere on Kinja is a minefield. Sometimes you’ll say something “ controversial” and nothing happens. Sometimes you'll say it and basically have to nope from Kinja for the rest of the day.

That’s why you never ever comment on the FP. I’ve never been out of the greys on there, and that’s fine. You can post something seemingly innocuous and get accused of being a Nazi racist Elon lover in a matter of minutes. There are people out there with a lot of anger.
All the Giz-media pages are a huge echo chamber. If you don’t comment exactly the way you’re supposed to, you’ll get roasted. Politically biased media from both sides is divisive and has really hurt this country imo.

Right which is why the Obama administration worked with CA to create a single standard for fuel economy. Trump is the one who abandoned that. And since the auto industry doesn’t even want the rollback, he seems to be doing it just to spite Obama or “own the libs”.
In any event, if you are going to have one size fits all regulation, it needs to be strong enough to work for everyone. You can’t blanket CA in smog again just because Ohio doesn’t care about the health of its residents.

I agree with you, but that is a shame. We should all be able to debate our differences and learn from the debate instead of avoiding the topics.
By the way, I just noticed that my original post has a typo. It should read “I have not been commenting on Jalopnik (or Oppositelock) for very long... ” There was an extra “on.”
