The Corolla has fancy pants app connectivity. I can lock and unlock the doors, see if I left a window open, see current fuel level, and more from the app. I think I may even be able to remote start it if I ever forget to leave it in gear. Look! Actual tire pressure numbers from the comfort of my desk!
Also, the app whines about me hooning it:

Hoon numbers far too low.

To be fair I only crossed out of the break in period on the way to work this morning.

That seems pretty fancy for a Corolla! I'd expect it on a Lexus or Tesla, but not on the Corolla.

It is surprisingly loaded on the tech side, especially for having a manual. Fancy pants app stuff, active rev matching, lane keep assist, radar cruise control, pre collision braking, etc all included from the most basic trim even with the 6 speed. Blind spot monitors are strangely XSE only for some reason. It even let’s you change gear without interrupting cruise control.

So, in other words those 11 points were all this morning. We’ll accept that.
(now I want one just to see what happens when it gets to zero..)

That driver score is clearly a challenge waiting to happen.

I’m interested to see what it does when I autocross it.

My internal luddite fears my insurance company somehow getting ahold of the hooning score.

I have to deal with that for a little while. Using the snapshot thingy for 6 months makes Progressive the cheapest option for me by about $20 a month.

I wouldn’t trust those tire pressures, they don’t show if you have one side 1.5 psi off ...and we know what that can lead to...

Like a breathalyzer in a bar.
Or the paper shredder that tells you how close you are to it’s limit in the engineering department at work.

The last rental Corolla I had was missing the "fast acceleration" feature. What year model did that get added on?

2019 Hatchbacks get a new 2.0L making 168HP. It’s not a hot hatch but it’s not slow. I believe some trims of the 2020 sedan also get the 2.0 but the lower models still get the old engine making 130 or whatever it was.

I wasn’t aware, that’s a huge improvement.
