Kinja'd!!!

Got a runner through checkpoints ahead of the cutoff, froze my ass off, and I’m ready for a nap. The race is out of my hands now.

You became an ungainly but secretly loved AMC?

I guess you only run a fraction of the race ad a pacer. That race seems grueling.

Good for you helping others in a race.

Nice work! Here’s a Pacer for the pacer:

That's awesome! How long was your stint?

Yes, thankfully. I did something like 14-15. I realize now that it’s almost more painful to push them along at their pace than to actually run as you normally would.

I’m trying to find coffee now.

Something like 15? We had someone not show up so the original plan changed last second.

(Who promises to help in a race like this and then just disappears?!?)

15 miles or even 15k is still a lot.

Our runner missed the cutoff at 87 miles. It’s insane.

There are  still a few people around. Not many, though, that’s for sure.

I would expect that after 15 miles at altitude.

Well done! Did 18 at low altitude today (Seattle), I cannot imagine running  15 at altitude, and at a race pace. Hope you found that coffee!

Well, “race pace” is something much different 72 miles into a 100-miler :) This guy kicks my ass at shorter distances!

My job was probably more akin to dragging a toddler through an airport at 3 am. But the climbing destroyed my shins/calves - I had to take a break on the drive back because traffic was terrible and my right leg was cramping horribly on the brake pedal!

Oh no! Sorry to hear that. That's something that seems so cool to do, but I'd get crushed by the altitude
