Patrick Bedard writes about a survey of college professors who own cars (in the late 1970s).

If you need to know, owners of GM products were the most conservative, with Ford 2nd, and Chrysler 3rd (interestingly though , for both Chrysler and Ford, less than half of the owners surveyed were conservative).

That's biased though, I bet college professors as a whole skew more liberal than the general population.

It was also the late 1970's. Which was a particularly embarrassing time for the GOP.

That reminds me, I saw a new xc90 t6 the other day with a trump sticker on it, I was stunned. Couldn't get a pic I was driving and i lost it pretty quickly.

I love my Vo’ and I’m pretty ‘liberal’ but I think now-liberalism is hot wet garbage.

My dad was a college professor in the 70s. Somewhat liberal and drove a SAAB 99.

Not sure the 1970s concepts of “ liberal”, “Democrat” or “ Republican” have any relation to today’s .

Pretty sure any 70s Republican this side of Barry Goldwater would be labeled a commie today

Barry Goldwater thought the religious right were dangerous nutcases. He’d definitely be considered a liberal by today’s standards. Shit, our Republican president shit all over John McCain.

“ Mark my word, if and when these preachers get control of the [Republican] party, and they’re sure trying to do so, it’s going to be a terrible damn problem. Frankly, these people frighten me. Politics and governing demand compromise. But these Christians believe they are acting in the name of God, so they can’t and won’t compromise. I know, I’ve tried to deal with them.”

True, which really says something about where we are at today.
