That might be a shitbox
, but I bet it’d be fun to drive hard..

All the torque was between 3-4k RPMs so it didn’t really help to rev it much. It did feel kind of chuckable in the city, but it was very loud and buzzy above 45 mph. Highways were not much fun, at least in Colorado where we have lots of hills.

Not just a shitbox, but an early shitbox eith the recessed headlights. In later years one could find it in less-shitboxy trim with either a turbo or a G13B four-cylinder.
Behold the glory.

Based on the plate the blue one was first registered in 1987, late summer probably .

Yeah, low end cars used to struggle with hills.. I still remember having to turn off the AC and floor it to get an old Omni to accelerate up an on ramp (and that was only trying to go from
10 to
55mph..)
The only saving grace of either is they weighed very little compared to a modern car..

The second of my two Sprints actually had working A/C, believe it or not. It was the first car I ever owned with working A/C. “Working” is relative; i f the outdoor temperature was over 80F, it could not keep up. Also I’d have to turn it off if I was approaching a hill.
