Had been using a combination of Chrome & Explorer on 7. Open to giving Edge a chance, or another 3rd party solution. Thanks.
If sticking with Edge, interested in the best ad-blocking and privacy plug-ins. Ran AdBlock Plus , Privacy Badger, & Ghostery on Chrome.

Nope...well...Edge works OK enough, I guess, but I’m not a fan. I’ve just stuck with Firefox and Chrome all this time (Firefox is my personal preference as I like its customizability
, but I have Chrome installed
as well).

I gave Edge a shot, it did something creepy, and I stopped. I think it displayed an ad in the URL bar or something and I noped out.

Edge is ok for light browsing or quick tasks, but for full time use I still default to Chrome + uBlock

I only used Edge to try and get HDR/4k netflix working, since even their standalone netflix for windows app won’t do 4k without a very specific combination of hardware and software assets.
And it was such a pain in the ass I just used my roku instead. FF and Chrome still work well enough, so why bother? I didn’t want to set up my extensions and plugins again or deal with the hassle of importing them to find half of them don’t work.

I use edge for all of the 365/exchange management console stuff because it’s faster. I haven’t spent enough time with Firefox since it got good again to recommend it, but I’ve heard all good stuff.
I get to buy really nice PC’s for our people so we can all run 6 chrome windows with 100 tabs in each. I don’t actually do this, but everyone else actually does.

Edge is fine. I prefer Chrome but Edge is fast and standards compliant. I sometimes use it when Kinja is broken in Chrome.
That said, Edge is sort of becoming Chrome anyway: Hands-on: First public previews of Chromium-based Edge are now out

We use Google’s G Suite so we’re standardized on Chrome but whenever I’ve used Edge it seems fine. I’m not sure about what kind of privacy features it has.

Is that what you used in the past? I use it on all my machines with Firefox Sync to share saved passwords/bookmarks, etc
(a Win10 desktop that is my high-spec everyday PC
, Linux Mint 19.2 desktop that is my Media Center PC and my Linux Mint 19.2 laptop which is my everyday lower-spec laptop).

It runs better than Chrome on my tablet, seems like it works well in low memory situations.
FWIW my tablet is an old VivoTab Note 8 with a Z3470 processor and a meager 2GB memory running full Windows 10.

Not 100% sure. Privacy concerns? May just has a personal preference against it. We’re at a small shop and he’s our long time contract guy who’s in the office two days a week.
I’ve used it for the past several years on my old machine with no issues.

I have to use Edge regularly at work and I’m not a fan. I don’t care for its
UI layout and it suffers from numerous bugs, like straight-up crashing if I “tear off” a tab at the wrong time...
For my personal devices, I recently dropped Chrome for various reasons and switched to Firefox recently. So far the experience has been positive overall. The UI feels mostly familiar after using Chrome for so long, and it has many of the same plugins available
(uBlock Origin + Privacy Badger FTW). I also like that it’s lighter-weight than Chrome, open-source, and has a strong focus on privacy. The only downside I’ve encountered so far is that it’s a bit more strict about web design conventions so some less well put-together sites *cough*Kinja*cough* occasionally have issues.

You could always see if you can sneak Brave past him: privacy-centric browser based on the Chrome engine . Near-identical user experience unless the site you’re browsing is overly dependent on sloppy practices, but as long as you’re not logged into Google they do n’t get to know everything you’re doing .

I use Edge for streaming Netflix/Amazon, because it seems to crash less than Firefox on my old desktop (RAM issue? Maybe)
But for everything else, it’s all Firefox.

My grandmother would only allow us to use Netscape on her computer because the place she bought it from said to use it. She didn’t like when I installed internet explorer.

If you’re still willing to stick with Chromium-like browsers, I can’t recommend Vivaldi enough. If you can get past some of the clunk, it’s amazing for what it is, and it takes Chrome Web Store extensions as if it was Chrome.

Original Edge is and has alway s been pretty good, if you don’ t have anything against the UI. It is generally pretty damn fast and standards compliant.
The rub lies with Google activel y work ing against non-Chrome browsers by using non-standard stuff only their browser supported (eg. Youtube takes forever to load in Original Edge).
And due to a lack of market share, sites are optimized more for Chrome and Chromium based rend er engines. So Microsoft gave in and is developing a Chromium based Edge. This “New Edge” so to speak, is pretty d am n g ood and I would recommend it out of most browsers available ri ght now.
