Echocardiogram showed completely normal heart function, as did EKG. Cardiologist took me off blood thinners. I have a stress test on Tuesday, and if it goes well, he is going to take me off of the beta blocker. The goal has been to reduce my meds as much as I can, so this is a good step. 1 year, 3 months post-heart attack. I still have a ways to go to where I want to be, which is down another 30 pounds, but I believe I can get there, and feel like this is definite progress.

My friend who also has heart problems is very discouraged and angry that he has to have an angiogram, and most likely a stent due to a "hiccup" in his stress EKG.  I worry about him - he can get a really negative attitude.  He said he sees a future ahead of more doctors and more procedures, and he feels like his efforts so far have been useless. I tried unsuccessfully to get him to see things differently, but he is determined to wallow in self-pity.  I don't do that, so I can't really relate.  I hope he lets go and pushes forward instead of resigning himself.

Welp, I’m happy for you. Sorry about your friend, the best thing I’ve ever seen done for that is to lead by example and tag them along.

That’s great news! Sorry to hear about your friend’s attitude....wish there was a way to help him change it. It’s surprising how much one’s outlook can actually affect physical health!

there is a vast body of  well based research about depression after a cardiac event. i hope your friend can get the help he needs.
