I took the Exocet down the Monterey yesterday. The drive down sucked. It took almost 3.5 hours due to traffic. Coming back was better but I was exhausted. On the bright side, it gave me the opportunity to get a better idea of the car’s range before I take it on the rally in September. I can only get about 8.5 gallons slowly into the tank (reads Full at that point).

Anyways, taking pictures at these events is challenging. There are ton of cars, a ton of people, and it’s generally not conducive to photos. I do feel like I got a few good ones though.

The squirrel and sea gull pictures are from Pacific Grove. I had a little time to kill between events. The squirrels are pretty aggressive (will walk up to you) since people seem to feed them.

Driving it carefully what kind of mileage does it get without the body etc weighing it down? I was down there during set up week, but not working. It was fun to see the cars being delivered but not have all the people there yet. I recommend the Portola hotel since they have an auction and they bring cars in all week. We go kayaking and check out the cars people bring into town on their own, there were fenced in areas full of cars already for the auctions too.

Cool - I’ll check that out if I go down on Thursday. It’s a long ride to go back anf forth from Richmond.

I’m still trying to figure that out. I may be able to jack into OBD2 and get a better idea from injector rate. By my estimate, I got a little over 23mpg on that last tank.

Just walking around in the parking garage at the Portola is fun, crazy stuff comes. That’s about what my TSX wagon gets if I drive it in the city or just fast everywhere, says 23.5 right now. I got 29.6 on my trip up the coast going steady. No idea what the Z gets but I rev the shit out of it when I drive it.

No pics of what I thought stole the show.Just a awesome clean, lightly modified, but touched everywhere 911. Sorry for the potato pic. But this car was driving in and I was stunned. Apparently Jeff Zwart was too he walked with it the entire block. I’m hoping he is at Werks on Friday to get better pics

Haha, I pretty much ignore the 911s. It’s no offense to the 911 people, but they’re everywhere and the owners can be kind of silently judgy. They’re kind of the vegetarians of the car world. I think you’re allowed two vegetarian, er 911, friends before they gang up and have an intervention about your non-911 car habit. Also, did I mention that they’re everywhere? Almost every conversation between 911 people is about which OEM seats you’re using (“Oh, you don’t have the Sport seats? I had to get mine from a guy in Atlanta who found some at an estate sale in Abu Dhabi” ) or how much original Fuchs cost or whether those are the original headlights or not. Yawwwwwwn.

I laugh at the 911s that are in shows but stock. “OMG IS THAT A STOCK BASE MODEL ‘75?” But I appreciate the modified ones. I think there are a ton of subtle touches that can show good craftsmanship without being obnoxious.
