I’m going to have to replace the tires on my car by the end of the year.
As you can see in the picture of this previous post:
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
I currently have 15" steelies with crappy plastic wheel covers that I hate the look of ... with tires that are a little bigger than OEM.
I was checking into replacement tires and if I stick with these f ugly 15" wheels, a set of replacement tires (I’m looking at either Michelin Defenders or General Altimax RT43s) will cost me at least $110 more.
I’m going to get a set of 14" alloy wheels that I can get from Car-part.com for around CAD$40 each.
In terms of style, I really like this:
But that’s a 15" wheel you get on the generation of Fit after mine.
I can get used wheels like these for CAD$35-$60 each:
Or if I want to go fancy, I can get fancy Acura wheels like these:
Which of these used wheel options do you like best?

1st would look the best on your car, but I prefer the second set better.

I really like the Civic Hybrid wheels on the Fit.

I’d go with 2 personally but the buried ones aren’t bad either

Any 4 bolt Honda/Acura wheel will work, just depends on condition and price. I would personally stay away from 14 inch wheels, the tire selection for those sizes is shrinking year by year. With 15s you’ll be able to find replacements in case of a flat for years to come. I think you can also run BMW bottle caps.

Apparently older Accord/Prelude 4 bolt wheels won’t work because the bolt pattern is different. I have to stick with Integra and pre-2005 Civic wheels.
And I don’t think 14" wheels are going away any time soon since there are still plenty of new cars being produced up until relatively recently that still used them.
And chances are the offset used on a BMW wheel will be wrong for the Fit.

It’s not so much that tired aren’t available, it’s that GOOD tires are all but gone. Michelin dropped 14 figments a few years ago, and the Altima’s is basically as good as it gets. I like some of the 2001-2005 civic wheel choices.

Nah... the Michelin Defender tires are still available in 14". And for the type of car this is and the driving I do, I don’t need an ultra-high performance tire. Consider that the 0-60 time for my Fit is only
around 9 seconds.
Also by the time that good 14" tire availability becomes a problem, I’ll likely be replacing the Fit with something else.
And if my Fit turns out to be a long-lived example that won’t be rusted out by the time it’s 15 years old, I can always pick up some cheap 15" OEM aluminum wheels for really cheap by then.

Ah ok, fair enough. I wouldn’t personally go below a Grand Touring tire, regardless of car, b e tter wet traction and quieter tread.
